I have been thinking about which Democratic Politician Barack Obama most closely resembles in terms |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-01-10 11:51 AM by Tony_FLADEM
of ideology and I conclude Barack Obama is like George Mitchell the former senator from Maine.
George Mitchell was a moderate liberal as is Obama.
If Obama were ideological he would have proposed raising the top marginal tax rate to 50%, brought back all the soldiers from Afghanistan and Pakistan, Proposed single payer health care, and nationalized the banks (or at least broken them up.)
He hasn't done any of this, but he does believe government can have a positive effect on people's lives.
In that sense he is like George Mitchell.

Would have been nice. I am not saying he has to be as far left as me. But come on....a little farther couldn't hurt, could it? They are already yelling Socialist and Communist anyway.

3. I believe Obama's most fervent belief or at least wish is that he can |

Bring Amercans together. That is evidenced in every single thing he says and does. He truly believes he is President of All Americans no matter how despicable some happen to be.

5. Sure, we certainly wouldn't want the hate and division of the country to be spoiled, would we? |
