When I heard the hostage situation at TLC
the first thing that went on my mind was... another employee who's gone over the deep end, for good and very valid reasons.

Instead, what we have is another internal terror incident. Now... mark my words on this one. Since this guy seems to most folks to be a left wing nutzo... (he is an anarchist but who's counting)... he will be classified as a terrarist. That's how our media works.

Unless of course the dictat is... we don't have ANY internal terror in the US.

Oh and his manifesto... well, well, why am I reminded of the Unabomber?

1. I don't know that he can be classified left wing
since he babbled about immigrants and anchor babies too...it's a mix ...I'll still bet he watches Fox with some of the stuff he wrote...

3. Why I said Anarchist
But mark my words... on how some folks will speak of this guy.

He strikes me, as a CLASSIC anarchist. (That is very much to the right wing it is falling off the edge)

5. To be fair, there's plenty of babbling about immigrants and anchor babies on DU lately
It's easy to do the "this guy's an asshole, therefore he must be one hundred percent The Other Side's!" thing, but it's often harder to casually pigeonhole some whackjobs like this guy than we'd like it to be.

When someone's unhinged enough their worldview can get pretty scattered.

6. And in this case it is
why he strikes me as a classic anarchist... as in the Bakunin Anarchist type.

Regardless I am waiting to see how the media spins this... once it is over either it goes away... or the spin will be interesting.

remind people of this passage:

That almost sounds like a teabagger.

NPR coverage:

Suspect's MySpace:

He's supposed to have some kind of manifesto on the internet too but the link doesn't work. Its something about the environment.

8. He is not a left winger.
According to a news tv show, reporting on a guy that did not like a different news tv channel.

He was against human population, that is death side, that is elitist, is superiority, is eugenics.

Weather left or right, if he is for population reduction, or as the news said, against people on planet, then he is not left or right, but more part of the death fringe faction.

However it could be many things. And really it does not make sense, since the correlations are beyond coincidence again. Although the correlation is not causation, and it could be a few things.

11. yes, I agree the reports on him point to him as an anarchist.
Edited on Wed Sep-01-10 02:55 PM by RandomThoughts
Did you notice all the correlations

Silver springs matches Bob seger song
His name is lee a type of wind

Clint is now being interviewed as a profiler
A police chief guy was reported as named with a correlating name also.

A few other things.

Happens all the time, where correlations occur, noticed that a few times.

What can you do but hope people don't get hurt and wonder about what creates such things.

Of coarse it is seen on a news show, so who knows what sequence and what causes are part of the effect.

What I find most interesting is the lack of reality in the situation.

First off if the correlations are so accurate so many times, then why have people not corrected the issues I have, showing the correlations are a form of spin to change some point or something mentioned, and not for the same ideas.

In anyway, they show a lack of reality between some events, or reports of events, and that has been happening for years, so it seems to be more about trying to break down ideas of what is real and what is not.

I like music.
Dire Straits-Why Worry
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_03uXQiz6eY

I should add, if he does not hurt anyone, then he is not part of that faction, but has some cross over ideas, his civil protest should not have had a gun though.

Passing out fliers on ideas, if the ideas make sense is not a bad thing, the reports of him having a gun, or things like hostages is what makes it bad, although he probably has both good and bad ideas.

32. "he is for population reduction"- yeah. Spouting identical gibberish to some I've seen spread here.
"left", "right", "elitist", whatever. Labels. I'm telling you any time someone starts a thread about, say, kids in restaurants, or on planes, or a toddler being assaulted by some stranger in wal-mart for screaming, a whole gaggle of affected pseudo-hipster, cranio-rectal inverts with an axe to grind against human reproduction will come out of the wordwork, screeching madly about 'yuppies popping out broods' and 'screaming, mewling brats' and shit like that.

I can't tell you how many posts I've seen where people float vile gibberish pertaining to the so-called 'population problem', making dark noises about how 'we'll take care of it or it will take care of itself'...:eyes:... (if you don't believe me, I'm happy to use the search function and find them for you) and then promptly freaking right the fuck out when reminded that with contraception, a decent standard of living, and a large measure of individual self-determination, birth rates in most industrialized countries have managed to bring themselves down-- all by themselves. With no spooky authoritarian, draconian measures needed.

Does this guy represent "the left"? No, he's a fucking violent nut. But unfortunately, all the media has to hear is "Al Gore" and they're done. They know where to file this guy. Sad, but true.

More unfortunately, some of the sick shit this guy was spouting IS commonly heard, in some corners, of "the left". Such as it is.

40. I suppose you're to be commended for not threatening to hurt anyone but yourself, I guess.
Edited on Thu Sep-02-10 10:59 AM by Warren DeMontague
"the dirtiest Evil now is giving babies the rest of this century." Pray tell, do you happen to know precisely where this alleged "population problem" is taking place? Is it taking place in the United States and Europe, in developed nations with high standards of living, where people have access to contraception and a large degree of personal autonomy about decisions like reproduction? No, it is not. Europe, Japan, the US, etc. are maintaining essentially replacement birthrates, in some cases slightly less.

What that means is, we don't have a "population problem", we have a poverty problem, we have a low standards of living problem, we have a 'too-many-religious-authorities-telling-people-not-to-use-birth-control' problem, we have a people-can't-run-their-own-lives problem.

As for the rest of it- I'm sorry you think you're living in such a dark, doomed world. Medication might help. Because unless you like it that way, you don't need to suffer under some imaginary misery.

If you're really contemplating harming yourself, get help. Now.

41. sadness, NOT for myself.
Edited on Thu Sep-02-10 12:26 PM by stuntcat
No amount of medication will slow the mass-extinction or fix the diseased oceans or replace the mountains leveled for coal. I don't go through days miserable, I'm just realistic about what's happening to the beautiful planet and it's animals. The thing I'm most proud of is not giving an innocent baby the rest of this dirty century, and not creating another 1st-world style consumer. I do realize that number-wise it's the poorest nations having the most problems, but far as our consumption of resources go, our brains aren't evolving fast enough to come up with a sustainable way of living before we've scarred the Earth and made the future very sad for anyone who loves animals and beautiful plants and stuff :)

Thanks for your thoughts and not wanting me to suffer in misery! This is something I've spent half my life thinking about, I stopped wasting time on misery after I accepted that people are too selfish to change or care. I will hang around as long as my family and friends are here!

"I'm sorry you think you're living in such a dark, doomed world" But It's not just me :)

43. We have problems, yes. But we are a problem solving species. I remain an optimist.
I do. If I had 10 bucks for every time someone issued dire, authoritative-sounding predictions for just exactly how doomed we are, I'd be -well- really wealthy.

I'll also say this: the cause of environmentalism- and I consider myself an environmentalist- is not helped by excessive hyperbole. When the IPCC says that the Himalayan icepack is going to disappear in 10 years, and are quickly and easily proven wrong, what happens? The Glenn Becks of the world have another excuse to say that Al Gore made up global warming to pay for his massage habit. I was very active in Rainforest awareness in the 80s, and I remember several people making scientific-sounding pronouncements about how "the planet Earth will not support any life higher than a cockroach by the year 2000". :eyes: ....well, I guess we got some good news, in there, somewhere, since I'm still here, and so are you.

My point is, this is far and away the most exciting time for human beings to be alive, possibly ever. Sure, we have problems, but it beats living in the Roman Empire, or in a cave 50,000 years ago. The future holds dangers- and promise- we haven't even begun to dream of.

Like the song says- "We Will Survive". We will.

If not for the continual spew of hate from the RW media, I'm thinking this guy doesn't snap. If not for the continual disdain of the right for proper mental health care, he's treated and this never happens. The right is responsible for his death.
