Bodies, bomb material found in Vallejo home
(09-01) 12:43 PDT VALLEJO -- The bodies of two women were found in a Vallejo home filled with explosive materials, deepening the mystery into a string of East Bay slayings that culminated in the shooting death of a suspect by California Highway Patrol officers, authorities said today.

The husband of one of the women has been arrested in connection with the explosive materials, but has not been booked in the deaths, police said.

The bodies, found about 5 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Upland Court, are believed to be those of two Vallejo women who have been missing for a week - Segundina Allen, 63, and her friend Marcaria Smart, 60.

Allen lived in the home with her husband, Charles Rittenhouse, 72. Rittenhouse has been arrested in connection with what authorities described as "precursors" for making explosives.

4. This is one weird story.
Last night on the local news the focus was on the guy who led police on a chase across Contra Costa county before he was killed while fleeing on foot. His girlfriend was dead in the car.
