Satanist Church Rents Out Oklahoma City Civic Center for Exorcism
Leader James Hale Says He Wants Ritual to Be Educational for the Public
By SARAH NETTER

The leader of an Satanic church firmly planted in the Bible Belt has raised eyebrows by renting a theater in the Oklahoma City Civic Center for a ritual exorcism of God.

The Church of the IV Majesties is inviting members and the public to view the ritual, in hopes of erasing a lot of the unfounded fears many have about Satanism.

"We don't kill animals, we don't kill children," James Hale, the church's Lord High Master, told ABCNews.com. "We just decided that being right here in the middle of the Bible Belt, it wasn't a good idea to keep the secrecy you see in the traditional Satanist churches," he said. "Because secrecy breeds fear. And we're not looking to scare anyone."

Citing concerns for privacy and safety, Hale declined to say how many members the church has besides the seven members who are named on the church's state listing as a tax exempt religious organization, a designation they were awarded this spring...

1. "We don't kill animals, we don't kill children..."
Nothing about adults, though. :(

What a bunch of sick f*cks we have running around loose in this world. Is it any wonder things are so completely f*cked up?

4. Actually, Satanists don't kill anyone in rituals.

I used to be a member the church of Satan,I left because the church was full of right wing ayn rand worshiping idiots ,world church of the creator racist assholes and they acted like christian fundamentalists when the more stupid shit they clung to was questioned,,like what is strength how is it defined..

Some independent satanic 'grottoes' that see satan as a deity might do stupid shit like killing things. But the "official"Church of Satan is actually atheistic. They do satanic styled rituals for the psychological release, to explore the unknown and the dark side of belief or self, the 'shadow'. They see themselves as being their own god represented by the symbol of Satan,as the unknown potentiality of their own power acting as will in the material world. That does not require anything to be 'sacrificed'.Sacrifice is totally against what Satanism is.

BTW it is CHRISTIANITY glorifying human sacrifice/ritual human cannibalism. They do it every good friday/easter,every time a catholic or other fundamentalist group like ass-emblies of god do 'communion"..eating cracker wafers and wine/grape juice..Jesus said,This is my blood, this is my body remember. What do you think that mind game Substantiation means? Ritual human cannibalism, symbolically eating jesus. Go figure...take that beam outta yer eye..

Myself I have grown past the Satan/Christian thing, both belief systems are too limited for me these days.I am an explorer of the unknown,I use feline archetypes, and explore reality and the psyche,no longer caught up in light/dark, I just see..yet because of my seeking I have a very clear ethical understanding of my own motives ,moral reasoning and my boundaries physically, mentally and spiritually the journey is not an easy one and for me it is a path only I can walk. Everyone else has their own ways of walking and if they have integrity will eventually have to own the consequences of where they go.

6. Exactly. Satanism isn't really about worshiping Satan. It's a rejection of organized religion.
Or at least, that's what it is intended to be.

11. yep
But it is so sad they became what they claimed to abhor. I and my ex gave them hell..The church splintered when LaVey died. Offshoots rose to compete, like Satanic reds, the first church of satan, and the LaVey church of Satan tried to screw over the very people supporting them and so revealed thier bullying control freak tendancies and stupidities. For example, they claimed to own the Goat of Mendes symbol with Leviathan written around it, but that goat was used way BEFORE LaVey set up the Church of Satan in 1966.

This was a webpage I had years ago, someone saved it, It explains some of the stupid shit with Laveyan satanism and why I left them. But if one still identifies with the great scapegoat and seeks to explore that be aware of the way group dynamics work when groups get sick.

15. The worst thing is their constant disdain for dissenting views..
In the name of individualism plus you have to pay to be an official member.

23. That's one denomination
That's LaVeyan Satanism, the biggest denomination. There's also the Temple of Set (who worship Satan/Set as a metaphor for intellectual enlightnment) and the Luciferians (which is what I am, we sorship Satan as the counterforce to a tyrannical God).

Like other religions there are various branches of Satanism. Anton LaVey's flavor wasn't exactly about worshiping Satan, but more about yourself. There are branches that do in fact worship Satan

7. Satanism is a genuine, recognized religion
You think people are uninformed about Islam? You just proved how ignorant people are about other religions.

Many people who call themselves "Satanists" are actually using that word as an excuse to do horrible things. True Satanists hate these sick f*cks, because they give the real Church Of Satan a bad name.

I'm not a Satanist, but I have read up on Satanism, and it gets a really bad rap because of media ignorance and hysteria.

More people have been killed by Christians and Muslims than by real Satanists.

29. Satanists technically are Deists, and many are Christians
To the extent that they believe in God and in Jesus Christ. I think most of them are full of hokey, but real Satanists don't kill anyone or anything and never have.

"Satanic Panic" -- not ONE cause of killing or enslavement has ever been found.

8. I've known a couple of Satanists, too.
They were law-abiding people who didn't do half the evil sh*t I've witnessed Christians doing, like beating their kids, stealing, and so forth.

Come to think of it, I think it'd be funny if the Church Of Satan would open something near the Muslim center at Ground Zero. We'd see how "tolerant" the Muslims and "religious tolerance" people are in a heartbeat.

9. Satanism is a joke...it's centered on trying to tick off Christians...
And shock people.

It is a inconsistent philosophy...opposing organized religion by forming an organized religion. Promoting individualism by forming a group of people with similar views.

Satanism wouldn't even exist without Christianity. They would have no platform.

17. How amusing
during my atheist phase, I read the satanic bible by lavey.

very interesting read, I highly recommend it, because it gives print to what many think about many church goers with cute anecdotes.

but, it lost me when compassion was more or less thrown out the window.
I didn't know what libertarianism was back then, but i understood what was described in the satanic bible wasn't for me.
the idea that you count on the good will of a corporation and the rich is insanity at best.

but yeah, that's that.

20. I agree with you
But what do you expect from organized religion? Tithe or pay a fee to be an "official" member..Yep compassion was tossed, critical thinking, true individuality, as well as a sense of humor,Organized religions are hierarchical herds, be it a herd of sheep or goats it is still a herd following a 'herder' and avoiding the yapping dogs keeping them all moving the same way together...

...but I guess god's been puking up green pee soup lately. These guys have to be the biggest nerds in the universe. This reminds me of a Dethklok episode I saw. They're probably the Ayn Rand types too. That's what I've noticed about them. I heard that Anton Lavey's satanism is basically Ayn Rand's Objectivism with spooky window dressing. Well, whatever people wanna do on their weekends is fine with me. Its probably like mainstream Christianity in a lot of ways but less destructive. At least they're not bitching to law makers to pass anti-gay laws.
