So I just read the most interesting transcript...
Edited on Wed Sep-01-10 10:22 PM by Leftist Agitator

Of a call that a friend of mine made about an hour ago to BP. He's the assistant editor of my University newspaper, and decided to try and reach some executives who are working the claims department through calling them and directly asking to speak with PR people about their current investment in the $20 billion relief fund.

Apparently he got one.

So he asked the rep how much money of the much vaunted $20 billion has actually been deposited (let alone made available)... (drumroll)

$3 Billion! Or so she thought.

But it wasn't incumbent upon her to know these things, she didn't work for BP.

She works for the "Gulf Coast Claims Facility Hotline".

Which is totally separate from BP.

Except that they are fully funded by BP. And they were chartered in June, by some former BP muckamuck.

I can't wait to read the article that he's writing. If the rest of his research has been as rigorous and confrontational as what I have seen, it should cause one hell of a shitstorm.

4. It's OK. As long as anonymity is assured, which it will be, I'm apparently OK to post this.
:)

2. And? This is common knowledge
http://www.gulfcoastclaimsfacility.com/

The Gulf Coast Claims Facility ("GCCF") is the official way for Individuals and Businesses to file claims for costs and damages incurred as a result of the oil discharges due to the Deepwater Horizon Incident on April 20, 2010 ("the Spill"). The GCCF is administered by Kenneth R. Feinberg ("the Claims Administrator"), a neutral fund administrator responsible for all decisions relating to the administration and processing of claims by the GCCF.

5. Well, it was news to me.
What is particularly interesting is that these executives claim to be unaffiliated with BP if questioned about their funding and relationships..

Do you know anything about this Kenneth Feinberg character?

6. Yeah
He oversaw the 9/11 victims fund and...

"Feinberg has served as Court-Appointed Special Settlement Master in cases including Agent Orange product liability litigation, Asbestos Personal Injury Litigation and DES Cases. Feinberg was also one of three arbitrators who determined the fair market value of the Zapruder film of the Kennedy assassination and was one of two arbitrators who determined the allocation of legal fees in the Holocaust slave labor litigation. He is a former Lecturer-in-Law at a number of U.S. law schools."

He farted east instead of west one day and the left hates him. Oh well. Boohoo.
