I don't get this whole Chilean Mine Rescue. Why is it going to take months? |
|
We can get to miners out in 3-4 days sometimes a little longer but not months. Why is it going to take them months? If they can make a hole big enought tosend food down, why cant they make one big enough to send one of those tubes that get in like the used for the Q creek mine? http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/09/01/chile.miners/index.html?hpt=C1

1. I didn't understand this at all either until I saw a cross-section map of where they... |
|
...actually were. They're under a mountain. Like half a mile under a mountain. And the way out is this giant maze (and I mean maze!) of zig-zags that got cut over the years/decades while they were mining it.
If you can, try to look up something which graphically shows just how deep they are, where they currently are, and the tunnels they went through to get there.

2. If Obama wanted it bad enough... |

...they'd already be out. But he doesn't. So they aren't.
