1. O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

25. I believe it's terrorism.....read what a military friend has to say below:
Korean sub let out NC seals who blew rig--one story--2nd--NC Korean seals on supply boat in rig assault and demolition--retaliation for sinking that SK boat which we then followed up with and EMP strike that took out Chinas main oil transmission line

6. Well, if he hadn't adopted Republican offshore drilling policies in one his preemptive concessions
and instead, stayed true to progressive values he'd be looking prescient.

Instead of looking like the goat.

7. There is actually a dumbass in the comments at the local news links who says it is a Dem
conspiracy because Dems are "desperate".

Gawd, they are lunatics.

17. I have read online and have concluded that anything and everything
is being or will be blamed on the Obama administration by the mouth-breathing morans of the reich-wing nowadays. The worst of course, are those fundy extremist Christians who invoke Jesus and/or the Bible in all of their posts, believing that God is on their side, and that anyone and everyone else is the anti-American socialist spawn of the debbil.

16. Further details
One person is missing after a rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico, about 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

It happened around 9 a.m., and as of 10:15 a.m., the rig was still burning, Chief Petty Officer John Edwards said. Rescue crews from New Orleans and Houston are responding.

snip

The rig is owned by Mariner Energy.

It's not yet clear whether the rig is a deepwater rig, similar to the Deepwater Horizon rig that exploded on April 20.

According to Mariner Energy's website, the company does engage in deepwater drilling in the gulf, including "higher-risk, high-impact projects that have the potential to create substantial value for our stockholders."

Mariner Energy is headquartered in Houston and has an office in Lafayette, La.
