it was reported yesterday Wolfowitz was going to resign as soon as the World Bank could figure out a way to let him save face.
this morning I see Wolfowitz won't resign until the World Bank 'clears his name'
sort of the same thing to me - coming up with some excuse to let him save face by clearing his name...
how different is this than a criminal getting "off" due to a procedural technicality? not much...
ennywhoo - reporting that the world bank is scraping the barrel to find some excuse to let Wolfie save face/clear his name is just painting a pile of poop a different color and calling it manure. It's still shit and it still stinks

2. actually, the way I read it |
|
was the World Bank wouldn't give Wolfie what he wanted so he's holding out for them to Vote him out. Had they been "weasels", Wolfie would have gotten his golden parachute weeks ago.

4. DU rule: Never say a kind word about the World Bank; it could |
|
come back to haunt you. ;)
They seem to be handling the scandal as well as possible considering the stonewalling from Wolfie. (Getting at Wolfie for his girlfriend's transfer and pay raise, rather than job performance at the WB, is like those who went after Clinton for a BJ and "lying" about it rather than his job performance. We don't like Wolfie, just like "they" didn't like Clinton, and are happy to use whatever ammunition falls into our lap.)
