This could be the Big Gathering we're hoping for - if we let it...

Big march on Washington: 10/2

What's it all about?:

We all deserve a just and fair chance to achieve the American Dream. Our national identity is rooted in the ideal that all people – regardless of race, class, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, heritage or ability – should have the opportunity to fulfill their potential.

One Nation Working Together will chart a bold, pragmatic path toward a more unified, sustainable, prosperous future by building support for these core principles and policy ideals.

Specifically?

Putting America Back To Work
Provide immediate relief for those who are currently unemployed

* Extend jobless benefits, COBRA, mortgage assistance, and other initiatives for those currently out of work.
* Target help for populations and communities in the greatest need

Quality and Affordable Public Education

* Ensure that all people have access to affordable, high quality education throughout their lives, from pre-school through college
* Provide for teacher training and support necessary to continuously improve classroom practice and serve students better

Equality For All
Refocus Our Nation's Fiscal Priorities

* End the foreclosure epidemic and save the homes of America's families
* Reform bankruptcy laws to protect families and working people
* Prioritize affordable housing for all

Who's behind this?

This movement includes human and civil rights organizations, unions and trade associations, nonprofit organizations, youth and student groups, religious and other faith groups, educational, peace, environmental, and ethnic associations, and any other groups and individuals who are committed to pulling our country back together now. As of late August 2010, there are more than 150 ONWT organizational partners and tens of thousands of individuals.

1. I am making a serious effort to be at this one. I'm in Texas and it's not
going to be easy. If anyone in TX wants to talk about ride-sharing, PM me.

8. If it happens, will the media cover it?
Or will the news give the impression that the event never happened?

9. DA latter.
Oh, and if there's Teabag Opposition lurking there, no matter how small, they'll get equal or more media time. I don't suspect Corporate McPravda will veer from their marching orders.

15. Right
A million attendees will become a few thousand.

A few hundred heckling teabaggers will become tens of thousands.

Yes I know we are going to get pounded but one has to make an effort. Are they gonna show the game at the rally, like a big Jumbotron?
