Don't let it blow away
We have been saving powder for years, I would dare say since 2000. And I think it finally just blew away - dispersed upon the wind - and the progressives in the party are trying to catch it all.

Hold off on X/Y/Z - gay rights, the war, climate bills, etc. If we can just win that next election we will be able to finally get through the change we need. Don't tick off the middle, hold back for the mid term elections. Then the Presidential election.

We won them. Now we hold off in hopes of getting more seats next election. And if we win again, then we have to take it slow to make sure we win the White House again. Then the President will have to hold back once more to insure we stay in power.

There is always a next election to be afraid of. There is always the 'Just wait, we need more seats, we need a super Majority' - and even if we get that there is 'Just wait, we need to hold on to that majority so let's go slow'.

Do what you were elected to do - not just Obama but the congress. Worried there might be a fillibuster/etc? Don't, we did not hire you to worry about that - we hired you to act for the many that need you to act. If you fail, but acted, so be it - at least you tried.

Don't let the powder blow away that so many said for years to keep dry so that we could hold the congress and the WH.

Be bold, go out on a limb, you don't get far if you do not take the risks. WE pay you a lot of money, pay for your trips, your planes, your aides, etc - we do so because we want you to do something to further the causes we care about. We are not paying you to play it safe.

If you cannot do the job we will find those that can. Many have sit by, bought the 'keep the powder dry' meme, and waited.

The ball is in your court. If you say 'It is all politics, you don't understand' I say - we do understand, you are just trying to protect yourselves and your jobs at the expense of many others.

Don't let it all blow away. Fire the shot heard around the world, instead of putting the guns down in hopes of using them later.

Change started with us, it ends with you - and if you don't stand up and do the right thing, especially after elected you to, who will?

3. Oh God, if we could only trade all that dry powder for backbone!

4. Pretty poor analogy
An awful lot has been done, and if Dems would stop screaming "fix the world in 18 months or else!!!!!!!!!" and work to KEEP Dems in power, we just might get more accomplished. Rome wasn't built in a day.

5. Leaders should lead, not sit back and worry about polls or their jobs
Or as mom used to say "Shit or get off the pot" :)

it is not about fixing all the problems in 18 months, we all get it takes time. But not acting on things like DADT (when it could be stopped at the executive level) or not fighting hard for a public option (at the least), etc, is just shameful.

Are you saying you would do the exact same things as the dems have done since they have been in power?

8. I am sure people over history would join you
You know, the leaders who would not compromise at the expense of others.

All or nothing - sometimes it needs to be that way. Like with slavery, rights of people to serve their country and marry, etc.

How about you post a thread tell folks to just wait, because you see it as all or nothing?

7. Bravo. The landscape has changed.
There is no one to be bi-partisan with. If you enact their ideas without their votes, then you must believe in their ideas too. It's really that simple.
