Teabonics is a meme centering around the National Tea Party Movement that began in early 2010, when a Flickr user began uploading images of Tea Party protesters carrying signs and banners that were either misspelled or difficult to understand. The images were used to argue that the protesters were uneducated and misinformed, sparking a sizable controversy over the internet. UrbanDictionary defines Teabonics as “The creative spelling or grammar featured on the various signs used by protesters in the Tea Party movement.”

Origins
In March of 2010, Flickr user Pargon uploaded a set of photos under the name Teabonics. The photos, which were most likely taken by other users and collected by Pargon, featured Tea Party protests from around the country. In each photo, a protester would be holding a sign, with poor grammar or incoherent sentences. In the description of each image,
