Thank you to any of you who have contributed to his campaign, which has now raised almost $127,000 through ActBlue alone, most since Lisa's concession speech three days ago.

6. Blue_In_AK do you think that the fact that LM didn't endorse Miller

is going to have an impact?

It was a rather big snub.

What is the reaction in AK like?

8. It was a rather big snub, and one that a lot of us noticed

the night she conceded. Some people are encouraging her to run a write-in campaign, but she hasn't made any public comment as to whether she would support such a move, so as it stands now, it will be Miller v. McAdams. Andrew Halcro, a Republican who ran as an independent in the governor's race against SP in 2006 and who is a a major Murkowski supporter, was a guest on Shannyn Moore's TV show last night and said that he would be supporting McAdams in a Miller/McAdams race. Lisa has had about a 70% approval rating here, so her supporters aren't too happy about the way Miller's campaign treated her in the closing days of the campaign. They told some real whoppers about her voting record in the Senate, plus there was the "oldest profession" tweet that was really unprofessional and disrespectful and got everyone's knickers in a twist, even the state's Democratic politicians.

Another interesting point is that Sarah and Joe Miller tried to oust Randy Ruedrich, the chairman of the Alaska Republican Party, a few years ago, so I'm sure his support for Miller will be less than enthusiastic. Alaska is not a teabagger state and Miller and Palin are really out of the mainstream. Had Palin shown her true colors in the 2006 campaign, she never would have been elected.

9. I understand that write in rules in Alaska make it almost impossible
for Murkowski to mount a successful campaign.

10. From what I've heard in the past couple of days,

her name has to be filled in exactly right -- L-i-s-a M-u-r-k-o-w-s-k-i -- and the litte circle blacked in as if her name had been printed there. No "Lisa" or "Murky" -- it's a tough hurdle with a name that long. A voter would have to be really motivated.

She would have won in a three-way race, but rather than run as AIP, which is a closer fit to his belief system, Joe Miller chose to disrupt the Alaska Republican Party. He'll pay.

13. Yes, they are.

For a senator with a 70% approval rating statewide to be taken out in this way is pretty shocking. I didn't always agree with Lisa, especially recently when she's had to move right because of party pressure in the Senate and threats from the Tea Party, but at least she's hard-working and sensible and indeed has worked with Mark Begich several times on Alaskan issues.

Miller is ONLY in it for himself.

Here's a very revealing article from the New York Times that appeared in this morning's Anchorage paper. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/04/us/politics/04alaska.html?_r=1&ref=william_yardley

Aside from the fact that it's pretty funny that someone from New York can claim to understand Alaskan politics, and they obviously don't realize that the majority of voters here are not aligned with either political party, the article does show gigantic holes in Miller's story, such things as his allowing the state to pay for his family's health care while the bulk of his money was earned in his private practice, the fact that he didn't list his seven years working for the North Star Borough on his campaign site and no one's talking. I mean, what gives with that?

There are also questions about his military record. He says he went to Yale and received a commission to West Point, which means that he owed the government five years of military service, but he apparently only did three. A Yalie with a questionable military record?? Whoever heard of such a thing. Oh, right...GWB.

14. Thanks for the info.

I didn't realize that the majority of voters are independent, or with another group (AIP?).

15. Here's the most recent breakdown from the Division of Elections
AIP 14,464
Democratic 74,802
Liberarian 9,392
Republican 126,486
Nonpartisan 78,189
Undeclared 177,219
Green 2,373
Republican
Moderate 2,892
Veteran 1,758

The latter three are considered "political groups," not recognized parties.

So in other words

Registered Democrats are 15%
Registered Republicans are 26%
and the rest are 59%

(I love statistics)
