Enron Ex-CEO Skilling Denied Bail While Appealing Convictions for Fraud
By Edvard Pettersson - Sep 3, 2010 5:31 PM PT

Ex-Enron Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Skilling was denied a request to be released from prison on bail while he appeals his 2006 fraud convictions.

The U.S. Court of Appeals in New Orleans today denied Skilling’s request in a one-sentence ruling that didn’t provide an explanation for the decision.

Skilling, 56, is serving a 24-year sentence after a Houston jury convicted him for leading what prosecutors said was a widespread accounting fraud that deceived investors about Enron’s true financial condition.

Skilling has asked that his convictions be reversed and that he be retried by a jury that isn’t allowed to consider so- called honest-services fraud in weighing his guilt or innocence.

1. I guess Kenny Boy isn't taking Jeffy's calls any more
from his poolside chaise longue on the private island...

3. My gut tells me he should be in prison for the murder of Cliff Baxter.
I hope he never gets out.

5. Ah yes, the "suicide" as determined
within scant hours by the crack Sugar Land PD, without benefit of forensics or an autopsy.

"Trust us. We're really really sure that he took his own life." - SLPD spokesperson.

And when an autopsy became inescapable due to public pressure, it was not even performed in the jurisdiction of Fort Bend County law enforcement. Somehow it became necessary to engage the Harris County Medical Examiner. Because when you're performing a high-profile autopsy, the integrity of the results depend upon how remotely it can be conducted away from the jurisdiction in which the death occurred. Ready access to the forensic evidence, and to the constabulary and police involved, has absolutely no bearing and no utility when determining cause of death where a shadow of doubt may exist.

:wtf:

6. good. He needs to serve many years
for his theft and fraud. May he serve every single year of his 24 year sentence.

7. Appeal denied. You will spend the rest of your life in prison
without the possibility of parole, or risk death on the streets by angry ex-Enron stockholders.
