Did you ever have one of those Aha! moments wherein you realized that you could tie a few pieces of the puzzle together?
I was watching Mourning Joe the other day, and interestingly, they were interviewing a writer from Rolling Stone magazine who had compiled the greatest Beatle songs of all and ranked them. The Number One song was 'A Day in the Life' and I sort of nodded in assent, that I could see how that could be chosen, although of course, it's a matter of personal taste.
So time marches on, and I'm watching the horror which is being perpetrated upon the US of A by the Palin Family, the Beck idjits, the Fox Liars, and the Republican establishment, and after a while, I started to hear the rising cacophony of the instruments from the above-mentioned tune, leading up to the final resounding chord.
I believe that we as a Nation are headed down a very dangerous path, and if we fall into the rabbit-hole, we will be faced with the Alice in Wonderland/Bizarro World of the so-called Conservatives for a long time, possibly for the rest of my life, at least. I don't know how many years I have left...25 or 30 if I'm fortunate - that only six or seven Presidential cycles considering that I've lived thru fourteen and change, and as I age, I would have liked to see the nation come about, tack gracefully, and sail in a slightly different direction, but I don't think this is going to be the case. We have successfully and deliberately dumbed down the educational processes, become very insular with our technology, have stopped teaching true fundamentals to our children, who are hyper-interested in video games and other unrealities, have exported our jobs overseas, and have a general disdain for truth, for real American values, for tolerance, for real freedoms, and for the value of the individual. The revisionism and lying of someone like Haley Barbour with respect to his own life is but the most recent example of how the truth is just made to stand on its head.
It is impossible to guess what grotesque lies they will next be telling, but one thing I can almost guarantee: you'll be left gaping in disbelief, shaking your head, and wondering how things can possibly get any worse. I hear the crescendo of 'A Day in the Life' and await the ultimate cacophonic chord with great trepidation.
