GAO to US Navy: These LCS Things Are Expensive As Hell And Don't Work All That Well
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, I’ve decided to give ya’ll an unhappycamper summary of the article and a link to the OP. To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.

To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

(This space reserved for a legally correct snark dump.) It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

unhappycamper summary of this article:After speeding $1.288 billion dollars on the first two duds of this new line of duds, the GAO tells the Navy their choices suck again.

“The Navy’s ability to deliver a capable, affordable LCS remains unproven,” the report said.

2. $1.288 billion dollars.
$1.288 billion dollars.

$1.288 billion dollars.

i just keep thinking about all the people out of work, people who need to see doctors, poor schools, family farms,
people who want to start mom and pop businesses, etc

what would $1.288 billion dollars do for any number of those?

3. Have You ever added up all the wasted $$$$ from just one week?
On the stories you report on? A month? A year?

I think you need to do it and use a spreadsheet.
I know you've been reporting about their bullshit for years.

I pay attention ...... now do others?
I think the hard numbers and a time frame from your stories alone
would SHOCK, HOPEFULLY, ANY sane American.

6. You have enough ammo in data from your posts
To really put something devastating together.

You could set it up with chapter on waste in programs, failed weapons systems, treating the troops etc. hell I even see book possibilities. No one has done that yet and you, like or not have researched it.

Maybe a collaboration would be possible with someone
articulate and a wordsmith and we have some good ones here on DU.

It could be a group DU effort, but I think you ought to think about it even if you don't want to use DU talent.

NOBODY HAS DONE IT YET think about it.

7. A little off topic, but...
Why all the disclaimers on your posts these days?

Were you actually threatened with legal action?

8. Yes he was although I think
it was extremely shallow and he needs help
legally to repel it.

He's an old fart like me with limited means.
