Obama: "easily the most trans-friendly presidency to date"

From the symbolism of the first transgender presidential appointee, to new regulation against discrimination in housing programs, federal agencies and offices — and Obama himself — have made this easily the most trans-friendly presidency to date.

"Obama has been trans-inclusive himself, and has set the right tone for inclusion," says Nancy Nangeroni, chair of the steering committee for Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition (MTPC).

"It seems very clear that the president is committed to fixing the inequalities in the federal government," adds Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, in Washington. "There are some pretty messed-up federal policies that are harmful to transgender people, and it's very apparent that the president wants those gone."

6. A trans-inclusive ENDA
is like the Holy Grail, though. It really needs to happen. Imagine how many things could go wrong trying to transition in your workplace-- and it must be especially stressful as the economy tanks.

I didn't know about the new passport rules, though. Every step counts.

11. Too late to rec but I can kick
I would love to see a Gallup or Pew poll on Obama's numbers in the gay community. I wonder why that isn't broken down the way they do for college grad/non college grad, race, income and other assorted groups?
