DNC sent me a "Past Due" notice for my membership.
I guess when they called the last time and I explained that until the President and Leadership stopped following their Third Way, Neoliberal "dismantle the New Deal" policy, it would be a cold day in Hell before I donated again (I was a card carrying member for over 8 years). Tuesday I'll call and tell them to take me off the mailing list. I'm getting tired of shredding their mail.

1. Stuff a note in the postage-paid envelop
saying Obama is Past Due, you're sick of him bailing out banks while unemployment remains high, sick of the wars, sick of his privatization efforts on education and social security, sick of his anemic HCR, sick of him abandoning card check and his disdain for unions, sick of him not issuing an executive over ending DADT, sick of his support for DOMA. Yeah, he's past due.

2. Wouldn't your statement constitute a resignation? So...
if you are no longer a member, you no longer owe for membership and a past due notice makes no sense.

Although, if it was just a nice "reminder" that you had not sent dues, I would excuse that. Any organization would do the same. An organization I am treasurer for gets about half of the dues after the second "did you forget" notice, and all I hear is "I must have misplaced the first one" or "I just forgot about it". (Of course, since they make me do double work preparing and sending the second notice, I find them just inconsiderate, but that is another story.) The point is that too many people these days are not very organized and need reminders.

3. Just tell the DNC that you are supporting progressive Democratic candidates only,
and are sending donations directly to them.

Since Obama is not a progressive, and you're still waiting on most of them to keep their promises from THE LAST ELECTION, you feel you've done your part and now they must do theirs.

No more money until they've kept their promises. And in the mean time, you'll support progressive candidates who will kick butts and ask questions later. How's that for change you can feel in the seat of your pants?

6. And don't forget to tell them that
you are going to hold your breath 'till you turn blue and stamp your feet unless you get everything you want.

8. Or, we could just tell them:
"Yes, we're idiots! Please take our money!! Lie to us, cut deals with corporations, don't worry, we won't expect you to actually do anything you promised to get our vote or our money.

Please sir, may I have another lash with the belt? And another?"

:eyes:

There's a big difference between holding someone accountable for their promises and being childish about it. (Kind of like your response.)

9. Of course. The Democrats and their lapdog republican allies
haven't done anything progressive over the past year and a half.

11. You're a victim of that "Either Or" Syndrome that's going around.
You're either 100% for Obama, or you're a Glenn Beck/Sarah Palin supporter.

You either shut up and say nothing about the broken promises, half-assed reforms, and lack of leadership, promising undying support forever, or you aren't acknowledging anything else that's happened. :eyes:

Grow. Up.

By progressive I suppose you mean the repeal of DADT. Oh, wait...gay people are still waiting for equality. No biggie, I'm sure it would be fine if black people still had to ride in the back of the bus, after all, they do get to ride the bus, they don't have to walk, right? :eyes:

And then there's that great health "reform" they shoved through. WOW! All I've read about since then is how everyone's premiums are dropping, and coverage is increasing, and everyone just loves it. (NOT.)

Credit card reform, where they allowed banks months and months and months to abuse customers by doubling their interest rates. Yeah, that's some progressive reform there. Real change!

Yes, I know there have been a lot of progressive things happen since Obama took office.

But I also recognize there's been a lot of crap legislation as well.

I've also seen how the minority party has still controlled the agenda, too.

And I know there are a great many things that still need to be done, some of which are very important but they don't seem to be in much of a hurry to do anything about it.

And if those things you're waiting on to get done affect your life and your career, they're pretty important to you.

Compassion much?

and it takes more time and effort than blowing them off.

23. If you support the DNC, why dont you come right out and say so instead of sniping
those that think it is a corrupt organization, that takes your money and spites in your face?

I support telling the DNC that we wont support an organization that funds DINO's.

If you have a good argument to support DINO's, I'd like to hear it.

14. That's what I said the last time they called.
There's still some question when you give directly to the candidate of your choice though, because members of Congress give money from their campaign funds to the DSCC, DCCC, and to other candidates. Hell, Tom Delay used campaign contributions for his legal defense after he decided not to run.

4. Hmm, Stoic
I've been a card-carrying member of the Democratic party for 59 years, and I'm not about to desert it now. I guess growing up during the Great Depression and watching my parents die of it, has taught me patience and persistence.

You should try it.

PS -- the "overdue" message was just a joking way to catch your attention, you know.

15. I just said basically the same to the DCCC on the phone.
I said I stopped giving my money to any old Democrat because too many of them are acting like Republicans. I told them I only invest my money in REAL progressives.

Will they listen to us? I'm not real optimistic.

works out better for progressives to cut out the (DNC) middleman.
