Let's talk about losing the House, OK?
My gut tells me, "No way." Why? Because of the TP candidates. They may appeal in the primary to the RW nut cases, but I cannot see the general appeal...UNLESS...that anti-incumbent feeling is really strong.

So...my fellow DUers...what is your reaction and why. One day, I feel pretty good, other days...well, not so good.

TIA for any and replies. This next election really has me concerned.

:hi:

1. I think it comes down to turnout.

Supposedly, the Dems are well funded. If we get our people to the polls, we might hang on. Normally, there's more of us than there are of them.

2. Good point.
I have not done it for a few years, but I think this year, I am going to volunteer to get people out to the polls. I live in Calif...and while the House is a big concern, California elections this year are of major importance.

Thanks for the reply.

10. Thanks for doing that. It's what is needed.
If more would GOTV, there would be no worry about the Republicans regaining control of the House.

3. I don't think it matters.
I have yet to see a progressive agenda get passed since acquiring a majority.

Maybe I'll pull a lever for the Democrats one last time this November.

If things do not shape up in the next two years.......................

8. That's what I said last time. Obama was my one last time.
I'm going back and forth on my congress critter. I won't vote for Obama in 2012. I'm hoping an opposition party emerges by then, but I doubt it. I suspect that Obama will be reelected by the Moderate Republicans who don't want to support their party's proto-fascist offerings. But I'm out of the game. There is no politician who represents the interests of the working class or any oppressed minority. So fuck it. Maybe if they start worrying about my vote I'll get some service.

5. We need Obama to start doing an update of FDR's "Martin, Barton and Fish" speech
We have to nail them about obstructionism-if we do that, we can get the electorate blaming the 'pugs(as they 'pugs deserve to be blamed)for everything that's gone bad.

6. I agree....
no way. I just don't think there are enough rethugs to do the deed. Any so called "dem" that would jump ship after what has be done so far would have to have their head up their ass....8 years and in the ditch, and we are going back there?....I don't think so. Is the world wide depression the fault of the Dems?? only if you are stupid.

these polls are wrong, but get to work on getting out the vote.

9. What has me beyond angry is
how Obama and the Democrats simply have not called the Repubs on their lies, obfuscations, and obstructionism. Every time a filibuster was threatened, they should have told them to go ahead, and then every single day point out that the legislation was being held up by the Republicans.

Health care reform that doesn't kick in for another four freaking years? What kind of reform is that?

But as furious as I am, having Republicans in power will only be infinitely worse. Especially because you can count on the Democrats to roll over and pass whatever crap the Republicans want. We are going to be so many years getting out of this terrible hole that I don't want to think about it.
