AAR got rid of Sam Seder for Lionel ? ... |
|
Has anyone been listening to the Lionel show, since it started this week on AAR?
Seder is sooooo much better.
Hello Tony Kornheiser show!
What is AAR thinking?

1. AAR got off on the wrong foot, financially |
|
And, programming-wise, the station is still reeling in chaos as a result.

I think right now they've got an overabundance of talent. I can't speak for this new guy because I haven't heard him yet, but that slot's tough because anybody in it has to go up against Stephanie Miller. But outside of him, they've got Tom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, and Rachel Maddow, all of whom are great. I probably would have offered Sam the Franken slot, but then I'm not a programming director.
Anyhow, if somebody's got to go up against Stephanie Miller, it might as well be the losingest host.

Remember, Mark Green is a big Hillary supporter. And Sam isn't.
Let's see how long Laura Flanders lasts. My guess is she's the next host to go.

3. As long as they keep Hartmann & Randi |
|
if either of them goes, they're done.
I like the idea of doing commercial radio, but the problem is exactly this kind of censorship and dilution.

6. I am a huge Sam Seder fan and miss his show dearly. |
|
I've tried to listen to this Lionel clown but three mornings was enough for me. He's terrible. Tunes are crankin' while I work today and search for another talk program to follow.

10. I love to listen to Sam Seder in the morning ... |
|
He's funny and intelligent at the same time. San Diego's KLSD had Lionel on late in the evening from 10pm - ? I hated his show then and glad they dropped him. Now they have Thom Hartmann rerun at 9pm to midnight. A rerun of Hartmann, is better than a live Lionel show.
I have XM, so now I'm listening to Tony Kornheiser, who I also find funny and intelligent, except he deals with sports. But his show is rarely always about sports. Very intelligent show.
Goodbye Lionel in the morning.
AAR is losing listenership to save a couple of $$'s? Doesn't make sense to me.
I'd be interested to know what Lionel's ratings are after a couple of weeks on AAR, and compare them with Seder's numbers in the same time slot.

16. I used to like Tony's show when he was on ESPN radio |
|
Like you said, his shows are rarely all about sports and he offers interesting opinions discussed intelligently.
Sam Seder just set the tone for my whole work day and he'll be hard to replace.

http://ltradio.blogspot.com/Just find her show on the column on the left, and click on the second red "W" - this goes to KTLK's site which works consistently well every day!

I couldn't bear to listen to Lionel, but I'd have Sam on and only switch stations when he started doing his Katherine Harris skits. In fact, I wouldn't put AAR on in my car until 9 a.m., because I can't stand Sammy and Army in New York. Now, I wait until 12 noon and switch over.

:hide: I thought he was strident, ill-spoken, and usually poorly informed.
Lionel is a much better radio personality. But he sucks in every other way.

8. He was a proud Clinton-hater |
|
In the 90s, his show was on an AM station in Tampa. He trashed Clinton all the time. I have no idea why AAR thought he'd be good--unless he could be hired for cheap because no one else wanted him.
:grr:
What is wrong with these people? They've ditched almost all their good hosts. Rachel Maddow and Randi Rhodes are pretty much the only reasons I haven't abandoned the place. Such a shame. I listened to them from their first day on the air. "Unfiltered"--now, that was a show.

29. I certainly wish them well, but I have never felt so jerked around by anything |
|
as I have with aar. First the shift from sirius to xm, then the constant canceling of favored hosts such as Maron, Malloy, Seder, and putting Shultz on the xm timeslot of hartman. ..AND now Lionel?????? He is infinitely worse than even Jerry Springer.
Replacing Sam with Lionel, in my estimation, is suicidal.

and the Seder move to Sundays but I won't. I have not listened to Lionel yet and I probably won't while I'm still pissed at the move. I will make time for Sam on Sundays. Did I mention I'm still pissed. But no bashing.

Lionel SUCKS!! This morning he announced he was "deputizing" his listeners as his producers and to write and tell him what we wanted to hear/discuss. I wrote and told him that I wanted to hear Sam Seder. Lionel is so weak!

21. What about the new 4 hour evening show??! |
|
Starts on the 21st. Named 'The Air Americans'. Hosted by Mark Riley (previously on with Marc Maron and more recently on at 5 AM) with 'participation' on the show by Robt. Kennedy, Jr., David Bender, Laura Flanders, and Mike Papatonio. 8pm to Midnight. Then Jon Eliot for 3 hrs.
I give the Air Americans a brief stint until changes are made.

27. I actually like Lionel |
|
As a late-night radio host, he's great.
But as a progressive host... not so much. Don't get me wrong, as a lawyer he's been fantastic at pointing out issues of Constitutional misdeeds of the Chimp-In-Chief. And at pointing out the fine legal points of the latest court case, he's unparalleled.
But he diverges quite often on matters of hero-worship for the GOP's talking points. Especially where it concerns Democrat-bashing.
And he's got quite a, shall we say "round-about" way of making his major points for the night.
But I enjoy the way it plays out.

I like Sam Seder better too but putting Lionel in his place was a no brainier if you want to actually make money.
