LTTEs, phone banks, canvassing, talking to family members, talking to friends, talking to neighbors, talking to co-workers, GOTV. It all matters. Because in November we not only have to have better numbers than the Republicans and Tea Partiers, we have to beat the anything-but-liberal media. Day by day, hour by hour they misinform, underinform, discolor, withhold, twist and manipulate, often converting simple truths into messages calculated to drive their audience, aware and otherwise, toward some corporate ambition.
We cannot be so self-defeating that we let our disappointments make our decisions for us. We have to support our Democratic candidates. And after they're elected we need to keep reminding them of who WE are.
Boots on the ground.

1. I did that in 2008 and lost friends over it here in my very red state.. |

Now people I convinced to go out vote for Democrats are asking me "where's the beef?" and I have no answer.
I don't have enough friends left to chance losing any for no perceptible gain.

I will vote. I will vote straight Democratic ticket. But I know I'm being abused and the only way I can do this much is by only doing this much. And I'm paying a heavier ethical price than you might imagine or even understand by even doing that much.
