Speaker-in-waiting Boehner balances GOP factions |
|
For those who know Boehner (pronounced BAY'-nur), the question is which version of the House Republican leader will emerge as speaker if the GOP takes at least 40 seats from Democrats in November. Will it be the policy-minded lawmaker who sometimes shows bipartisan tendencies, such as when he worked with the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., on major education bills? Or will it be the fiery partisan of recent months who shouted "hell no" to Obama's health care bill and who threw the Democrats' massive economic stimulus bill to the House floor in a theatrical rebuke? Boehner left little doubt that the president and other Democrats will face fierce resistance in the House if he is speaker, starting with a push to dismantle Obama's hard-fought health care law. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100905/ap_on_el_ho/us_republican_leader;_ylt=AjqTeCM2OzsS.TzkKOAMM.Os0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNsamY3ZTZiBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTAwOTA1L3VzX3JlcHVibGljYW5fbGVhZGVyBGNjb2RlA21vc3Rwb3B1bGFyBGNwb3MDMwRwb3MDMTEEcHQDaG9tZV9jb2tlBHNlYwN5bl90b3Bfc3RvcnkEc2xrA3NwZWFrZXItaW4tdw--

1. "replace the corporate income tax with a consumption tax" |
|
He praised, without fully endorsing, Ryan's much-debated proposals to replace the corporate income tax with a consumption tax and to transform Medicare over time into a voucher program that wouldn't keep pace with rising health care costs.
Oh, yea, these guys are really gonna be popular.
Only thing the GOP has working for it is racism and resentment.

5. K&R... just the thought of the destruction Boehner and crew are capable |
|
of .. should start solidifying our base.
That and redistricting next year...imagine.. letting the republicans in to redistrict.. that is a 10 year nightmare.. that will keep things like Bachmann in office till the American Taliban is fully entrenched.

People are faced only with less bad and more bad.
Dissatisfied with less bad, now they get to choose more bad.

I'm sure BAY'-nur will just get right in there and solve everything immediately! He'll fix health care, make sure everyone has a job, fight for more Wall Street reform, end the war in Afghanistan, declare DOMA and DADT over, quadruple education funding and close all charter schools, fix immigration, and the economy will come blasting back with tax cuts for everyone!

16. I think we will keep the House |
|
and the Senate, though probably by very narrow margins. Too narrow for comfort, that's for sure. I want to do whatever possible to keep the D's in power. Worst that can happen for the next two years is Obama vetoes a lot of bills, and we can try to regroup and push back in 2012 and re-elect Obama.
