Poll question: Are you planning to Vote for Democrats in November?
Will you be voting for Democrats this November?

(The question is literal... the candidates with the "D", not a measure of who is a real Dem, etc..)

1. As always, I don't like to bias the poll in the OP...
My own view is that this administration is disappointing and congress farcical, but I can see no real world advantage to a) not voting, or b) voting for anyone other than Dems.

14. The Administration is horseshit. But they're not running.
I strongly support my candidates, from Russ Feingold on down to the local State Assemblywoman. They are good, solid progressives. I'm pretty pissed about what's happening on the Federal level, though.

Nevertheless, in 2010 I will be out there voting against Republicans just like always. Much as I hate what our leadership is failing to do, I would hate much worse what the Republicans would do if they got into power.

33. I would not say horsesH*t
I would say more chickensH*t

I am exceptionally disappointed with the lack of leadership on such things as DADT, EFCA, single payer and alike. It always seems that they want to
1). be "bi-partisan"
2). Let congress do the work on their own without any leadership or effort.

40. As a fellow Badger I have to say the GOP will make the Bush years look like a Sunday school picnic
if they regain control. The subpoenas will be rolling out of the House with the Republicans in control. If anyone thinks not enough is being done now, wait until then when nothing is done at all.

Edited on Sun Sep-05-10 02:40 PM by Blue_In_AK
I am happy to vote for Alaska's slate of Democrats this time around, all of whom stand a good chance of winning with the Republican Party currently so divided here. That would be:

Scott McAdams for Senate over ..... shudder ..... Joe the Teabagger

Ethan Berkowitz/Diane Benson for governor/lieutenant governor over ..... shudder ..... Sean Parnell/Mead Treadwell, SP v. 2.0

and Harry Crawford over the amusing but very corrupt Don Young who has lasted in DC long beyond his shelf life.

We here in Alaska are lucky not to have much DLC influence.

By the way, Scott McAdams is now over $134,000 at ActBlue over the past five days and is still the number 1 candidate.

Reading thread after thread on DU about why "NOT" to vote for Democrats, I would have thought the poll result would be quite different. I guess the anti-Dem crowd is a small but loud minority?

15. No, they may just be aware that how one votes in a poll
can be grounds for banning.

See:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2741812#2742350

And since there is no leeway, like, No, my Representative is a blue dog Mother Scratcher that I wouldn't vote for again if I had a gun to my head, or Maybe, if they get their head in the game and remember those that voted for them in the past.... They may have opted not to vote.. Hmmmm, hope that isn't a foreshadowing.

20. Yeah, OK. Apples and Oranges
The poll question was, "Are black Christians dogshit"?

I don't think any reasonable person would surmise that banning people for saying black Christians are dog shit means voting "no" will get you banned. There is page after page of lengthy posts and threads explaining that the Democratic party is crap, and I don't see them getting banned.

17. Take me for example. I'm pretty critical of the Administration.
But when I was polled the other night, I told them I was mostly satisfied with the direction the country is going in , that I approved of Obama's actions, that I favored Health Care, etc. because I knew that if I indicated unhappiness with any of those things, it would be seen as criticism from the right, not from the left.

Democrats are just one big, dysfunctional family. We fight, scream, and badmouth each other continuously, but when we're attacked from the outside we turn as one upon our attacker.

18. I am not
This is almost exactly what I expected posting the poll.

There are very, very few posts here that literally advocate not voting for Dems and those few are locked summarily.

There are many bitterly disappointed and angry posts (including plenty of mine), but that's not the same as literally wishing Dems will lose.

29. I think almost everyone on this board will vote for democrats.
We are politically engaged, thinking people. The only danger from voter disenchantment is with the large numbers of people who barely pay any attention. Actions that dishearten voters will reach some number of people. How many, who can say?

I have considered abstaining or voting against Democrats. It will take a large, organized effort for those actions to have any impact. You can't just count on hordes of like-minded people to spontaneously do something like that. No leadership has materialized. It is probably still too soon for people to wake up.

It also depends on your locale. Most of us are facing different choices because we all are looking at different, and local, races.

28. • How DU Compares to THE REAL WORLD > > >
Edited on Sun Sep-05-10 03:48 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Eighty-five percent (85%) of Republicans back their party's candidate, while 83% of Democrats support the candidate of their party. Voters not affiliated with either party prefer the GOP candidate by a 44% to 23% margin.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/generic_congressional_ballot

Yes, this is Rasmussen. I was the first generic ballot break-down by party I was able to locate. Since Rasmussen has only 85% of Republicans backing R's there's nothing notably fishy about the 83% of Dems backing Dems.

DU, being a community of mostly passionate progressives, is more critical of the Party than the average registered Dem is but is also much likelier to cast a real world vote for a Dem than the average registered Dem is.

I don't understand why they wouldn't just register GOP. The GOP is pretty naked in what it stands for. If you like the candidates, you like the party...

Aren't the rest of you jealous of a ticket so fine, I don't even have to think about it?

Don't know enough about Dave Jones (candidate for insurance comm.) to vote for him or not, but know enough to vote for anyone but that gay-hating asshole Mike Villines.

Knew enough from experience to grill the young man who showed up at my door last weekend, canvassing for votes for city council, to ask him about his LGBT-rights stand (all politics is local, and if you don't believe that, you're a horse's ass). He did OK. We'll see.
