read your column today and was saddened by your defense of Alan Simpson and your belief that Vets and veteran's benefits are "special interest groups ... the real sucklings at the public teat ..." I must have missed that in my Vietnam combat brochure.

I don't know much about you, Mr. Milbank. I'm not a big reader of The Washington Post, but I did see a couple of YouTube videos that you and another fellow made in your smoking jackets and wingback chairs, ala Masterpiece Theatre. It wasn't very funny, and neither is your article on behalf of the miserly skinflint.

You obviously agree with Simpson's declaration, "The irony that the veterans who saved this country are now, in a way, not helping us to save the country in this fiscal mess."

Translation: we don't make war like we used to - too many survivors nowadays.

2. The only obvious solution is to just shoot all our vets.
Problems solved, no more money spent on those welfare babies. While we're at it, lets just shoot all the union members, too. Who needs those thieves sucking on the public tit. And shoot all the old people, too. They're just suckin' up our money with social security and medicare. In fact, lets just kill all poor people. They're all taking money out of my pocket and I'm sick of it. Oh, liberals...they gotta go. They're all money sucking traitors. I say public executions is the only thing good enough for those pigs.

Who else needs to go? Babies. Money is a one way trip with them. Gimmee, gimmee, gimmee, and they're all too young and too lazy to work and pay for themselves. Screw 'em, lets shoot them, too. All minorities, of course, and...

I'm gonna have to go buy more ammo. Everyone have a nice day.

3. That's pretty much what they're trying to do.
Well, without the shooting part.
But there are plenty of other ways they try to makes us dead.

5. People used to be constituents. Corporations were special interests.
Now people are special interests. Corporations are constituents.

That tells you who they serve, and who they think is important.

All we do is vote. That's all we are good for. But we only vote for the candidate they have already screened and approved through the "money primary," and their money is worth far more than our votes.

We only vote for the candidate the corporations allow the media to call "serious candidates."

That means we only vote for the their candidates that they already own. We won't ever get a politician they won't already own first. :(

6. They don't really need us to vote anymore either.
That's the beauty of modern electronics.

7. That is true too, more and more.
So far, it seems they are only skimming votes to change the results to ensure the person they want gets into office.

They still at least need us to go to the polls, as Theater if nothing else, to make this work.

But more and more they are going to just manufacture the elections they want, and they'll find ways so that they don't even need the pretense that we need to show up to vote.

Yes, with electronic they don't need us any more. We aren't voters anymore and those aren't votes. It's all just props in their show. :(
