in San Antonio, I'm seeing lots of yard signs for Bill White, but absolutly none for Perry. I wonder if this is an indication of things?

1. White/Perry
Man, I hope White has a chance. Perry is so obnoxious, but in last poll he was still ahead; still refusing to debate; I don't know much about White, don't know how liberal he is, but would be a VAST improvement as a leader of our state. Perry is embarrassing. I haven't gotten my sign yet, but have donated. White would have to carry the large cities, including DFW by a good margin to make up for the rest of this red state, also the valley. I have no insider info.

2. Surprisingly few decent polls for such an important race.
Texas is expected to pick up as many as four house seats in redistricting... the gubernatorial seat is critical.

IIRC, republicans already have a court precedent that will let them pack democrats into minority-majority districts guranteeing a minority-represented seat, but also an 80% democratic district (making the surrounding districts safe R).

4. I agree. Little Chance
Perry has an 8 pt lead and Perry is hitting White over the head with his refusal to release his tax returns.

5. He had an 8 pt lead in a Rasmussen poll two weeks ago.

The only non-rasmussen poll I've seen published since February was a PPP poll that showed the race tied (in mid June).

I'm not saying that he's not ahead, but I'd like to see one or two other pollsters weigh in on the race before we give up.

6. Perry is a much better politician
better as in more vile, corrupt, conniving. Perry will get another term, I'm afraid.

7. I saw an ad for White on Fox News this morning
You can't pull up a YouTube without a ad for White attached, He is everywhere unlike Dems in last few gov. campaigns. People are really fed up w/ Perry - even conservative Republicans.
