About the Koran burning event....something familiar...
Edited on Mon Sep-06-10 09:01 AM by Stuart G
There is something about it that feels so similiar...the nation wide discussion against this awful idea..

It reminds me of an event over 30 years ago, in Skokie Illinois..a Nazi March..What an awful feeling..At that time Skokie had a huge
number of survivors of the death camps. (it still has a number of survivors).. What an affront to march there.

but the talk ,arguments, confusion..around it..
.. were the event...at the last moment the Nazi's canceled the march
..
it didn't matter.......

the Nazis said ......they made their point..

somehow, I think ..the same result will happen..don't know if it matters..what an awful, ignorant idea.
It is all about hate..just like the Nazi march..

2. Would a counter-demonstration whereby portions of the Koran were read aloud
would be better than more condemnation? And make there is more publicity for this event,

3. Among fundamentalist or evangelical
Christians, events like the "Burn a Koran" day have been part of American culture for a long time.
Except before, it was heavy metal albums and books of certain kinds of philosophy and discourse they found offensive.
The difference here is that they're burning something that is sacred to other people, as sacred as any Bible.
Again, tell your friends and acquaintances who may be tempted to participate in this-- do not burn the Koran!
We can only expect respect for our religion when we respect others.
This Koran-burning is a bad, bad move.
