The slogan Tax the Rich, Feed the Poor, Is Our Nation's Hope for Sure! is a great slogan worth repeating ad infinitum ad nauseum.
There's a war going on, and it is not in Iraqistan; it is a war against our democratic process. We have Obama interfering in primary elections involving Michael Bennett and Blanche Lincoln, and Dianne Feinstein want to be co-chair of a group working to defeat Prop 19 in California (legalizing marijuana) and hence going against her base. We have the Administration now favoring retaining the Bush tax cuts to the rich parasites that are bleeding us to death--a foolhardy move considering the national economy right now and the loss of our manufacturing base.
I never imagined that extending the Bush tax cuts to the rich would be taken seriously. This stance reveals who has grabbed--or stolen--the reins of our democratic republic. We have to get these people and their assault weapons, the monopolistic corporations and the multinationals, our of the Democratic Party. Our representatives of both parties need to act, not like bought-off puppets, but as the representatives of their employers, We the People.
Certainly retaining the Bush tax cuts to the wealthy top 1% who stole our money IMHO will anger all the progressives. Does the Administration want to lose to the Republicans in 2010? Because there seems to be no good reason to vote Democrat at this point. The current Administration has continued with many--or even most--of the Bush policies.
Thom Hartmann recently stated on his radio show that there were two parties in this country, and they weren't red and blue. They were the corporatists and the populists. The corporatists have sold their puppet strings--their agreement and job description to represent we the people--to the uber-rich, and they control nearly all of the Republican Party and a good portion of the Democratic Party. The populists are pretty much limited to the remaining scraps. Sure, we have a choice between the blue milking machine and the red milking machine. Step right up. It's milking time.
Oh, and BTW, you may want to watch the excellent BBC documentary about how propaganda became "public relations." The title of the four part series is The Century of the Self.
