The Immortality of the Two-Party System
Edited on Mon Sep-06-10 02:03 PM by kentuck
Less than two years ago, the Republican Party was totally discredited and humiliated in a national election. They had broken every campaign promise and had driven the nation into a ditch. Even today, our nation struggles to recover from the disaster they left behind. It was almost as if they stole all the cattle and set the barn on fire.

Yet, here they are, ready to sweep back into power with a landslide victory over the Democrats. At least, that is what we are told. After being totally humiliated by a skinny, black politician from Chicago just 22 months ago, they are prepared to take the reigns of government once again.

By all rights, they should have gone the way of the Whigs. They did not deserve to exist as a political Party, let alone compete on a national scale. They were that destructive. They were that incompetent. They were that despicable.

But, in our two-Party system, there is no one to take their place. It doesn't matter how much they screw up or screw up our country, they are always there. They never disappear. Like a snake that sheds its skin, it comes back with a new, shiny skin, but it is still a snake.

It should make us question the two-Party system? Is that the best we can do? Why not have a Third Party option. Would that not make the other two Parties more honest? So long as there are only two options, the American people will continue to get screwed by the politicians in Washington. Perhaps it is time we re-think the way we vote??
