Pres Obama is giving a barn burner of a populist speech
If only he would approach the jobs situation with as much passion back in DC.

2. He is killing it!
Called out Boehner in a HUGE way. "The man who thinks he is going to be Speaker" and the party of "No we can't".

Paying for jobs creation by eliminating the tax loophole for offshoring workers.

Man alive - he is firing on all cylinders here.

15. That's why there has been action to accompany the words.
Over 3 million jobs created/saved since he took office, and you can see exactly where by going over to Recovery.gov.

One combat mission ended, the other with a transition date set. All troops out of Iraq by next year; Afghanistan transition will have begun by this time next year (July 2011).

39. I'm former USAF and have folk still over there, too.
Yes, war is hell. But as former military, I understand the meaning of "mission." Obama got 90,000 of our troops OUT of Iraq, as promised, when he promised it. All troops will be home by the end of next year. There is no magic wand. Does this mean we don't wish we could see the photos of our loved ones out of harm's way today? Of course not.

May God protect your nephew, and my own, until the rest of the mission is completed. I don't like it any more than you do. But Obama said he would do his best to end this travesty responsibly. And from what I can see, that's exactly what he's doing.

with programs to back them up, added benefit: emphasize the difference from party of nothing.

Shock and awe, but in a good way.

And sent them a comment that it was because of his speech today and that he needs to keep it up (and practice what he preaches).

36. Great speech--and it's about time--but I wonder if
Edited on Mon Sep-06-10 09:51 PM by Kat45
he's actually doing all of these things. I hear them talked about in general but never hear about specific things being done (high speed rail, for example). I also wonder if he's going to be able to do the things he's planning, what with the legislature he has to work with. I also have to ask why it took him so long to be talking about these things the way he is. I'm terrified of the Rs gaining control of one or both branches of the legislature, in which case he won't be able to do get any of these great things done. Why didn't he start this earlier in his term? If I'm mistaken and he has been doing this, I apologize, but I certainly haven't heard anything about it.
