After the Oscars, I was convinced Al Gore was NOT going to run..... |
|
but with these latest statements, it seems like a 50/50 chance - there's some subtext there. I think that if he senses that Hillary Clinton has become the clear frontrunner, he'll jump in - I get the feeling there's not a whole lot of love lost there, and he has some rather grave reservations about her becoming the nominee. What do you think his latest musings mean?

3. I think he's more likely to jump in in the Fall if there is no clear frontrunner |
|
on the Dems side. If Hillary, Obama, Edwards, etc start to pull away in the Fall, Gore will stay on the sidelines, but if none can become the clear front runner or Hillary and Obama knock each other out, Gore could step in.
I'm not impressed with the Dem Prez field. I trully believe that Gore is the best person to be President in these times. He's got the vision and he's done a fantastic job rehabilitating his Media image. I think Gore could be our next FDR.

4. I'm just MORE assured he'll run. Seeing his email last week |
|
sent through Kerry's vast email list with the ADDED request to link to his site, it is reasonable to conclude that there is more afoot.

5. His latest musings seem to me to be a good sign. |
|
If he's going to run, he won't step in until later. I sense that he hates campaigning because of the media and the "brokers" (his term). He hates that game but knows that if he runs, he won't have to play it. He has the luxury of time. He's also very aware of how many people would support him and how badly the country needs him. But he CAN'T say anything definitive at this point--the global warming problem and the cultural problems he addresses in his new book are too important. But he has to toss a bone or two out there so that those who are waiting for his decision don't cut and run to some other candidate.
I don't think my analysis is a product of wishful thinking; I'm trying to be objective.

6. I think the change in the words being used by Al reflects a change of heart. |
|
I believe he had decided to not run, but is not pleased with the way things are going, and has come to the conclusion that since the SCOTUS stole the 2000 election from him, perhaps he should just give it a go again, and try to right the wrong that was forced on us.
Gore running will change the landscape considerably...
