"they must All hang together". . . .
"We must hang together, for we will surely hang separately" - B. Franklin

When Ben F. said this, he was defending the signing of the Declaration. It was a "treasonous document" and they all knew they would be hung if they were caught. He also knew that they stood a chance if they remained united.

This is the state of the Republican party today. This is the only thing that has kept them from running, wholesale, for the hills. So many of them are knee deep in actionable corruption that they know if Fredo leaves Justice, it is only a matter of time before they're fitted for stripes and the old ball & chain.

As they get closer and closer to losing enough votes to override a veto, they get more and more panicky. It's a high stakes game.

1. I don't share your certainty
because in my experience it is the scapegoats (like Libby) who go to jail.

4. If the defections were sufficient... there would be a housecleaning.
It is up to the Republican electorate.

2. We know they are nowhere near in the league of our founding fathers..
who were acting for the most part on principles, and not pure greed. They'll do themselves in eventually, I'm convinced of it. The only thing that keeps them in power right now is the corrupt media.

3. It's the "in for a penny, in for a pound" dynamic
that I was talking about. They are bound in their electoral support of this regime by fear and or greed, depending on how vulnerable they feel.

5. I don't care if they hang together
or hang separately as long as they hang.
