Today I Joined the Ranks of the Unemployed
I've known this was coming for a few weeks so I've already been beating the streets looking for a new job and have some leads.

Tomorrow I will go and file for unemployment. But to any GOPers lurking or anyone else, I have a good education, I have worked hard all my life, I am not "lazy" and I want to work and I will find another job.

For you and your ilk to dehumanize me or use me to bash the President of the United States when it was your "voodoo economics" (to borrow a phrase), endless war, tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation, kick-backs, energy policies being written by the oil companies, screw the working class and the poor, I've got mine and the hell with you bullshit for the past eight years that got us into this meltdown is beyond my capacity to understand or tolerate.

So FUCK YOU!

2. Good luck with the job search...I just started tier 3 UI and haven't been
able to find anything here. Only one place called me in for an interview, but they never called back after that ( there were fifteen other applicants that day )

15. I too am on Tier 3
Based on my own experience — and yours, too, it sounds like — the 1:5 ratio of jobs to applicants is wildly inaccurate.

16. Location/industry must matter a lot
We can't get enough people in the door here in a tech publishing company in Boston. Best of luck.

17. Severely understated, in fact
I don't remember when McDonalds ( I'm using them as an example...not where I applied ) had such a glut of applicants...I think this economy is more fucked-up than we are being told it is

4. Sorry to hear that, and best of luck
When I was unemployed, the "Gigs" section of craigslist was a Godsend. Check it early and often. It gets you some pocket money and keeps you busy.

6. There is NOTHING wrong with signing up for that socialist program
called unemployment benefits. We collectively have paid into this for just such a purpose for very many years. Using it for the purpose intended is the right thing to do. Good luck with your job search...and yes, fuck the GOP.

Which is why it drives me insane when these Republitards call it a handout program...it is basically insurance.I've been working steady since I was 16 years old ( 35 now ) with no long gaps between employers including the one I got laid off from for an eight-year job ( yeah, epitome of layabout right there you fucking ignorant asses ) and all I frigging hear is "things are getting better out there"

FUCK THAT NOISE!

10. I am very sorry for your situation. My husband was
Edited on Tue Sep-07-10 10:30 AM by LibDemAlways
laid off in January, and it took him six months to find something. He was fortunate that a former co-worker came through for him and offered him a job. He's taken a 40% cut in pay, but in this economy he feels fortunate to be working at all.

For what it's worth, company job sites on the internet and those big job boards (Monster.com, etc) were, in his case, totally useless. He got a few interviews through postings on Craigslist, but nothing panned out until he hooked up with the former colleague. Networking actually lead to a job.

One horrible truth about being unemployed. People you think might be in a position to help will express concern and then disappear. Unemployment can be lonely and frustrating, but hopefully in your case only very temporary.

I wish you the best and hope you are collecting a paycheck again soon.

11. Supply side means supplying goods to the rest of the world, because Americans can no longer afford
them.

Soon, we will be making Happy Meals toys for China.
