Rescue tale faked to 'save' puppy-throwing girl?
A Bosnian girl became the target of international criticism and Internet harassment last week after a video showing her joyfully tossing newborn puppies into a river went viral. In an attempt to stem both online and offline harassment aimed at the juvenile, locals may have concocted a story about the puppies being rescued by an elderly neighbor.

Photographs published in the Bosnian newspaper Jutarnji List show Ruza Pavlovic holding an armful of five black and brown puppies, reports news website ninemsn. Pavlovic, an elderly woman who reportedly lives in the village of Curcic Lug near the girl's town of Bugojno, told the newspaper that she found five of the six puppies tossed in the river and has been keeping them in her garage. All are healthy and available for adoption — but as savvy netizens point out, the puppies in the original web video are black and white, not black and brown.

4. Drowning unwanted puppies and kittens is an ancient traditional method.
We just don't like to see it. We like to pretend that neutering and spaying is easy and available in every community in the world.

It ain't. Possibly never even occurred to them.

6. What about the pleasure she found in the act?
She could have filled the bucket with water and held the puppies down. (as much as I hate the thought of that, I know it happens and I wouldn't be as concerned about her mental health).

She ENJOYED the suffering of the animals.

I realize there are more important stories and that much worse is done to humans everyday, but it doesn't mean that I can't worry about this too. In fact, I wouldn't want her around children.

5. The pleasure she found in the killing of the puppies is very disturbing.
I hope the laws in Bosnia allow a strong enough punishment that will make her contemplate what she did, and then receive mental help to keep her from possibly doing it to humans in the future.

is a damn sight more psychotic than killing puppies.

8. It is difficult...
..to judge the mindsets of people that have been living in war zones for their entire lives.

I am not saying what this person did is right...but if you suffer the horrors of war on a daily basis from childhood - you may have a warped sense of morality.

Just my two cents from growing up in white suburbia.

10. I understand that.
I grew up in white suburbia too (even though I'm mixed).

I still hope she gets help. I don't hate her... I want her to get help.

I value human life more than "animal" life, but that doesn't mean we can excuse abuse (and I'm well aware that some would say I'm wrong for valuing human life more than "animal" life).

Life is complicated.... more so in Bosnia than here.

I think your point is that she is a victim, and you are 100% correct..... most abusers are victims (whether they abuse humans or animals).
