4. How hot do you think it'll get?
Seriously. He's the firewall to Rove, Cheney and Bush.

He can't leave, or the house of cards tumbles down.

12. They wouldn't be doing it...
If the Comey revelations hadn't come to light. If Ashcroft(!) was ready to resign over it, you know that it all must have been very, very bad.

After all, John Ashcroft is not civil liberty's best friend, all in all.

stink to high heaven - too icky even for the likes of him!

You said something just above here about "End Game"?

Well, you know, these assholes tend to want to murmur about the "end times." Maybe these are theirs. Hopefully.

And yes, I think the Comey stuff is what's done it. Just a little too sour a mouthful even for some of the bad guys to swallow.

PS: CALL YOUR REPS. TOLL FREE. See sig line numbers below. CALL YOUR REPS, EITHER PARTY. Doesn't matter who. Just that you DO.

27. Before AG's impeachment, next week an immunized Monica Goodling might have unknown crimes to reveal.
Neither Gonzales nor Rove have immunity.

Goodling, as White House liason, should be an interesting listen next week.

3. Are these prima donna senators going to endlessly bicker over the language of the resolution again?
Remember the fiasco over the resolution (non-binding) to merely denounce the Iraq troop increase.

It's checkmate. Either he's lying, or he can't remember. Either way he's not fit for the job.

16. AG Gonzales, what did you wife give you for Christmas?
I don't recall.

When did you meet your wife?

I don't recall.

When is your wife's birthday?

I don't recall.

How many kids do you have?

I don't recall.

And on and on. I think that is they way the Congress can prove he's stonewalling about the US Attorneys. Ask him a bunch of questions about things that occured around the time in question. Like, where did he go for Thankgsiving? What did he eat for Thanksgiving? What did he buy his wife for Christmas? What did his wife give him for Christmas? What did he get each of his three kids for Christmas? Where was he on New Year's Eve?

Etc., etc., etc.

Dems Seek No-Confidence Vote on Gonzales
By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Two Senate Democrats said Thursday they will seek a no-confidence vote on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales over accusations that he carried out President Bush's political agenda at the expense of the Justice Department's independence.

Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York and Dianne Feinstein of California, who have led the investigation into the conduct of White House officials and Gonzales, said the attorney general has been too weakened to run the department.

Just when such a vote might occur in the Senate was uncertain.

Their announcement is the latest in a series of blows suffered by Gonzales this week, including new criticism from Republicans and the prediction of one GOP veteran that the investigation into the firings of federal prosecutors would end with the attorney general's resignation.<snip>

20. A no confidence vote? How utterly pathetic.
That jerk (gonzales) is a partner and key with this criminal administration. He has broken many many laws, violated the public trust and perjured himself under oath before congress. The best they are willing to do is get a group of lawmakers to agree that "they don't like him"?
Every day that our (increasingly ill named) "representatives" allow this administration to continue its lawlessness is a step closer to our reps being complicit.

22. Rumsfeld, Libby, Meirs, Powell, Gonzo's three stooges, the generals on the ground -
not only will Gonzo-boy be gone but Bush will have a new cabinet by the time he leaves office, if the repugs don't suggest impeaching him for invading Iraq with fabricated intel first!

Payback will be Bush resigning like his mentor Nixon!

33. Yes, this is a safe, symbolic MEANINGLESS action
He is not being subpoenaed to give account under oath. He is not being impeached. Instead, Congress is wagging their collective finger in general direction and saying, "Naughty!"

36. To be fair...
I don't see them jumping directly to impeachment no matter how keen they are on it. A vote of no confidence can indeed be a meaningless gesture... or testing the waters to see if they can get votes for impeachment.
