a Koran?

Why should anyone give a rat's ass if he burns a book in the church parking lot?

And then, you got some assholes halfway across the world screaming about it making all sorts of stupid threats, so it becomes a matter of "national security" and safety of the troops."

Really, how can one dumb shit start all this trouble?

You know there IS a world beyond DU, or the US for that matter.

2. the story has been brewing a while-- first when locals denied him
a permit to burn and he announced he'd do it regardless. Then MSM tied it to the NYC mosque issue and voila... It had a life of its own.

And it has now become a real danger to US troops. See Kabul... see Indonesia... and of course civilians and diplomats.

by the notoriety and publicity this event will visit upon his church than he is in sending a signal to "radical Islam" by burning Korans.

What's needed is for a very large number of very conservative Christian pastors to publicly denounce the burning of another faith's sacred text on the grounds that it is an act of sour dedication to principle, that it betrays the spirit of the New Testament, that its intent is to wound or outrage certain different others, and that it is a phenomenally stupid temper-tantrum, all the worse because it is a designed temper-tantrum.

Grown-ups aren't supposed to behave the way this one nutbag minister in Florida is behaving. Most 10 and 12 year olds know better, and act accordingly.

7. Man Bites Dog... If It Bleeds It Leads... Dirty Laundry...
Don Henley » Dirty Laundry Lyrics
Written in 1982

I make my living off the evening news
Just give me something, something I can use
People love it when you lose, they love dirty laundry

Well, I could've been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear, give us dirty laundry

Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em all around

We got the bubbleheaded bleach-blonde, comes on at 5
She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
It's interesting when people die, give us dirty laundry

Can we film the operation? Is the head dead yet?
You know the boys in the newsroom got a running bet
Get the widow on the set, we need dirty laundry

You don't really need to find out what's going on
You don't really want to know just how far it's gone
Just leave well enough alone, keep your dirty laundry

Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're stiff, kick 'em all around

Dirty little secrets, dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
Love to cut you down to size, we love dirty laundry

We can do the innuendo, we can dance and sing
When it's said and done, we haven't told you a thing
We all know that crap is king, give us dirty laundry

8. It gives the liberal media another way to lead into gloom and doom scenarios
for Democrats. It's quite a leap to tie it together but they can do it by linking it to the "ground zero mosque" and how unpopular Obama was for correctly stating the constitutional right for the "mosque" top locate there.

Also if they're really clever they can mention that a lot of Amurkins think Obama is a mooslim

18. Honestly, I was wondering the same thing myself. This whole thing
seems like its gotten way out of hand, and most of it is the fault of the media for giving a handful, fringe, crackpots a platform.

I mean aren't these kinds of people always burning something or another and/or spreading general hate against everyone who isn't them? I'm not justifying his actions, I think he's despicable, but with all the wackos out there I am curious how this specific one mentioned to get so much attention, as opposed to, say the people who burned all the people who burned all the non-King James Bibles on Halloween or something.

19. There's an old rule in news, "If it bleeds, it leads"
Right now, there's not an awful lot more to talk about, that's how this clown gets an audience. You gotta wait for a slow news day if you want attention for the wrong reasons.

as a fundraising tool for awhile now--He's hiding and laundering money (apparently) and I'm sure the RW media just love to talk about this good Christian con man (while stoking hatred of Islam) Now it's in the Mighty Wurlitzer and we simply must get our hourly cable tv update. Ack. Like Shark Week or Balloon Boy. No one can stop it.Unless it starts to help the Democrats, then it will disappear as if it never happened.
