More good news: Latest GOP - Dem. Election Polls show a Tie. |
|
Here's an article from BuzzFlash:
GOP?s Much Ballyhooed 10 Point Lead in Gallup Poll Disappears ? Dems, GOP Tied www.pensitoreview.com/2010/09/07/breaking-gops-much-ballyhoo... sent by rgernreich since 16 hours 18 minutes, published about 2 hours 32 minutes ago.
Corporate media has been hammering results of the previous edition of this Gallup congressional generic poll because it gave the GOP a 10 point lead over Dems, and that fits their narrative of a GOP comeback in November. For days, the GOP's 10 point lead has been mentioned in just about every story about the election in newspapers, online and on cable -- particularly on supposedly liberal MSNBC.
Well, look how the worm has turned now. That 10 point lead has vanished.

3. And you just know the M$M will be all over this, just like they were with the 10 point spread. |
|
Right?
...Crickets...
Fuck the M$M. Bring back the Fairness Doctrine, update it, and specify what a "NEWS" organization really is. Faux News will have to be renamed Fox Right Wing Commentary, to describe what it really is.
I'm not getting my hopes up, but I still believe there are a lot of intelligent people out there who will eventually see through all the bullshit.

5. Gallup has done it before -- they are utterly unreliable on Any given day |
|
But as long as it deflates the beat of inevitability in the media and makes already timid Dems more hopeful and less likely to cave in on everything, works for me!

Just prior to logging in here I was on fivethirtyeight.com. Things are looking very, very bleak. The Republican lead is actually increasing. From my point of view Chris Van Hollen is incompetent and needs to step aside. Ed Schultz got Tarryl Clark - the excellent candidate running against Bachmann- to admit that the DCCC HASN'T GIVEN HER A DIME!! A co-worker told me that it looks like Van Hollen's plan is to give money only to those Democratic incumbents with safe seats. Now that's a grand strategy, isn't it? This guy needs to go.

7. For people who don't realize why this is good news |
|
Consider that the Republicans have been shoveling money into early campaigning for the past two months while the Democrats have barely begun. Consider that the RNC is down to five million in its campaign war chest, close to being broke when it comes down to buying air time.
Even shoveling all the money it had out there into a vacuum didn't improve their odds over a tie. That's a pretty pathetic return on investment, IMO.
Should the Democrats surprise me and do little of the DLC loser strategy of advertising only in safe districts and more of spending in districts that can be taken away from the GOP, I sincerely doubt our numbers in Congress will get much worse. Should the DLC prevail, a few seats will change hands for the worse, but not enough to give the GOP a majority.
I fully expect some surprises on both sides of the aisle, while I also expect a few buffoons to be elected, if only for entertainment value, by people who don't know any better.
I just don't think the rout the media are crowing about is going to materialize.

11. While the RNC may be close to broke, we haven't even begun to see |
|
the massive Corporate Cash begin to flow...Republicans will have the airwaves flooded with their message, of that you can count.

14. Yes, you might have a point there. The Neocons don't have |
|
the numbers, but they have their ill-gotten money, which can make up for it among the larege numbers of ill-informed people we have with us.

20. And corporations have all the money in the world. But I expect Obama |
|
should begin to really sound off, and tell as well as show the people what he can do. I hope the road, airport and highway building will just be the beginning of a series of announcements during the coming two months.
It could be a great fight.

15. Republicans don't need to buy airtime |
|
They have Faux Snooze. 24 hour, all week, all month propaganda channel, cheerleader for the rich and stupid.
I wonder if the FEC can make the R's claim all of that donated time as $$$$?

18. The few million who watch Faux are beyond redemption anyway. |
|
It doesn't matter if it's on 24/7. The same people watch it.
When it comes to the nightly new b'casts, Faux News pulls only 12% of the national audience. The vast majority of the country still gets their nightly news from the big three, and while they all suck in their own ways, they're not RW propaganda channels, as is Faux.
Faux also has the oldest demo of any of the news networks, which is a plus for the Rs in a midterm as oldsters vote in midterms while the youth don't. Still, 12%?

17. Look at Meg Whitless in CA. She's spent over $100MM of her own money |
|
in a effort to win the CA governorship. The result - she's tied with Jerry Brown, who got around to running his first TV commercial only this week and who has spent squat so far.

22. The RNC may have peaked, but the Corporate execs. have |
|
hardly begun to open their wallets yet. And if Obama does become more active with his speeches and programs -- it could become a very interesting battle for the American people's votes.

16. You're always better off to be gaining momentum into the election cycle as are the Ds. |
|
I truly believe the Ds played rope-a-dope with the Rs. And just as in the health care fight, the Rs peaked early, declared victory and are in for a huge surprise.
The Rs have no one to offset the star power of Obama, and he is going to own the airwaves for the next 2 months.
Honestly, I think the media was banging the drum for the Rs all summer for one purpose only - to scare the Ds into spending their TV ad dollars early in an effort to counter the R message. It was all a media ploy to get more revenue from the Ds (who have LOTS of $ on hand), but it didn't work, because just like with health care, the Ds realize that people don't start paying attention until after Labor Day, and most $ spent in the summer is wasted money.
Now, the Ds have piles of $ to throw at the election. They can pretty much buy up the airwaves, leaving the Rs fuming and carping about how unfair it all is.
