Piers Morgan to Succeed Larry King on CNN
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703453804575479673201004584.html

CNN said Wednesday that British TV host Piers Morgan will take over its nightly interview show from Larry King, capping months of speculation about a key program in the cable news network's lineup. CNN, which is owned by Time Warner Inc., said Mr. Morgan will take over the 9 p.m. eastern time show in January.

Mr. Morgan's hiring is the highest-profile effort by CNN to revive flagging ratings during the closely watched 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. hours. Time Warner said CNN continues to churn out healthy profit increases, but the network's ratings struggles have put pressure on CNN and Time Warner executives to lead a turnaround.

Mr. Morgan's popular interview programs in Britain, including "Piers Morgan's Life Stories," have helped make the former tabloid journalist a celebrity in his native country. In the U.S., he is known primarily as a judge on NBC competition show "America's Got Talent." ...

1. Maybe I'll watch it once in a while. I do love a British accent.

3. I do too, but there is an entire demographic that will go nuts...
I remember hiring a British female as a receptionist once. I was thrilled with how professional she was and sounded on the phone. However, within hours I started getting complaints from that rather ignorant portion of the general public, demanding to know "why I couldn't find someone to answer the phone that spoke English!" Yup, true story from my days in the Atlanta area....;)

So, I'm guessing that same group will turn back to Fox...(if they ever left)

4. BK gets a bum rap. Yes he does soft interviews but he gets them to open up to him.
And he gets the tough questions in there. By contrast, years ago Geraldo did an "interview" with MANSON. Now, there can scarcely be worse p.o.s. than MANSON and I would like to tell him what a p.o.s. he is, but what is the point of doing an "interview" if you're not going to try to get whatever possible information from the target and are just going to call him a p.o.s.?

Geraldo just stood there calling the p.o.s. a p.o.s. Hoo-KAY, now THAT was enlightening!1

Now, LK has done it, lo, these many years and especially with his bizarre personal life it was time for him to shuffle off long ago, but most of his detractors don't have a point.
