Put on your 'Prognosticator's Hat' and tell us what happens if the Maliki Govt dissolves?? |
|
Will we still own it because we broke it?
Will we leave?
How will this story end?

7. Saudis, Turks, Inranians will prepare to move in. We will not get the oil ... |
|
Edited on Thu May-17-07 02:56 PM by terisan
Bush/Cheney will be impeached and will resign after Bush pardons himself and his henchmen. Bush will make statement joking about what a bunch of suckers and cowards Americans are (as he boards Rev. Moon's private jet enroute to Paraguay). Military will begin orderly retreat from Iraq. Women of Iraq, once free, will live in misery. We will be left to pay the Bush bills and reflect upon our national debt, upon our worthless dollar, and upon what fools we mortals be.

8. There will be a feeding frenzy if Maliki's Gov't falls. |
|
Doing the feeding will be the various Islamic Mullahs and their followers, each seeking power they feel is due them. The Sunnis and the Shiites will escalate their current battling and whatever progress that may have occurred will be lost and our guys will be caught in the middle.
Iraq teeters on the edge of catastrophy and it wont take much to send it over the cliff as if it had not already fallen.

What progress, pray tell, would that be?

11. We might have to try to set up another government |
|
and start over.
Do I like this. No No No
At this point, IMO we are there to hold the Middle East together. When we took out Saddam, this increased Iran"s Power. The Suni countries, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt etc are very unhappy. The Suni's have maintained reign over the Region for eons. Really what is going on is a Middle East Struggle and not just Iraq. As long as we are in the Region Iran is more restrained.
When MCCain says we will be there for years--our National Interest requires this.
When Hilary says that she will leave a small contingent of troops. in Iraq --not in Combat.
These are the most serious contenders for the WH. I listen. If there was a way, each of these would jump at the chance to get out of Iraq.
We have years of agreements with Saudis and others in the Middle East. These cannot be ignored.
Therefore, I hope Maliki gets a move on and we can bring most of our troops home.

13. I Pray For the Poor Iraqi People |
|
Perhaps Saddam Hussein was no Bill Clinton.
But it was George W. Bush who lit a match and started this conflagration. Not Hussein.
We worry so much about getting our soldiers home. They should never have gone in the first place.
But if Maliki's government fails...and it IS destined to fail...then God save the poor helpless Iraqis caught in the crossfire.
Damn you Bush.
