Rove's Lawyer: no evidence the (Wilson/Plame) couple suffered any actual harm or loss of employment

http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSN1740053420070517?pageNumber=2

<snip>

Attorney John Kester, representing Cheney, said that allowing the case to proceed would result in the examination of CIA activities, including how Plame's duties changed after the disclosure of her identity.

"This is a fishing expedition, inevitably, about the duties at the CIA," Kester said. "The courts just don't go there and the court should not go there."

Rove's lawyer, Robert Luskin, said there was no evidence the couple suffered any actual harm or loss of employment, which is required in such cases.

The Bush administration supported the officials, arguing they are entitled to immunity.

1. Gee, I doubt Valerie OR the CIA would agree with THAT!
The other thing that came to mind while reading this post was, "OH MAN! being Cheney's lawyer has to be one of the worst jobs in the World!" Can you just imagine Unka Dick taking instructions from his attorney...or ANYBODY AT ALL?

4. I love the fact that Cheney has to lawyer up...
Any chances the judge will let things proceed?

11. I'd think that
the judge might. There are some pretty serious issues to be decided, including the claim that VP Cheney's attorneys are making -- that he can't be sued for doing his official duties. But a conservative judge might look at the case, and decide that Cheney is being sued for what he and his buddies did that went far beyond any official duty.

I don't think that the Rove position that there was "no harm done" is anything but fluff.

10. Excellent analogy.
The law states it is a crime to blow an agent's cover. Doesn't say anything about it only being a crime if blowing their cover causes them to lose their job. What a bunch of assholes.

17. That is not the point, just more lies and spin
The real point is exposing and destroying Brewster Jennings & Associates. That is where it is really at. Not revenge at Joseph C. Wilson for any truth telling. BJ&A were getting close to blowing the whole WMD lie wide open before the war got really bad and profitable.

Can you say treason? Can you say working with the enemy? Can you say War Profiteering?

That is what cheney and company are guilty of.
