Can anyone point me to data on US military spending over decades? |
|
Does anyone know of a website with a table or graph showing US military/"defense" spending from the fifties (ideally) or sixties to sometime recent?
It would need to present spending in some way that takes in to account the decreasing value of the dollar (by % of GDP or % of discretionary spending or something).
Thank you!

1. Do you want an aggregate number |
|
or are you more interested in various appropriations? Or, do you want to know about specific MDEPs?

To understand the question... but I'm too clueless.
I want amount of spending per year. In some meaningful stat (i.e., dollar amount would not be useful unless it's adjusted for inflation). For approx 1940/50s/60's to approx now.

2. Well, I keep the historical budget data in Excel spreadsheets ... |
|
... so I could probably do up a graph.

Wiki is mostly right wing propaganda.

9. You might be right on that |
|
however, I did check both a few months ago when looking for a comparison on world wide military spending and Wiki did have a pretty good graph. I do really like Global security for info on military stuff, my favorite being their page "where are the carriers". It isn't totally up to date, but can help give a feel for things going on.
