They were all in favor of burning the Koran until the military started complaining about it
Glen BecKKK, Sarah Moose-killer Palin, etc - they seem to be coming out of the woodwork over the past day or so to condemn this weekend's Koran-burn in Gainesville. Strange how they were all silent over this until Gen. Petraeus and other military leaders spoke out against it, saying that it could cause repercussions for American troops overseas.

Methinks that these hatemongers were just fine with the Koran being burned until they saw a way to make it look like they're supporting the troops by speaking out against it. Lest we forget, many of these were vehemently protesting the Islamic community center not too long ago.

1. I'll give you another example of something similar
Fred Phelps's group was picketing the funerals of gay people who died of AIDS throughout the 1990's, but we heard not a peep from conservatives, who most likely quietly endorsed such behavior.

But after 9/11 when the Phelps Klan began protesting as soldiers' funerals, then and only then did we hear condemnations from the conservatives.

3. I am actually OK with the burning of books by individuals ...
As much as I dislike the idea for many other reasons ... The right to burn the flag comes to mind, which I fully support as a matter of free speech rights ...

But the issue here is not a matter of rights - It is the purposeful antagonism of another class of individuals as an expression of hatred ...

As an Atheist - I reject nearly ALL theological canons .... They can all be buried and I think we would all be the better for it ...

Yet, I also agree that this act is foolhardy, and discriminates against one group as an expression of hatred against that group ...

Even though they have the right doesn't mean it is wise to actually exercise that right ...

The righties simply cannot make up their minds who they hate more ...

5. I wish if they do it that people would come and surround the
event with something that will block the view. don't let these maggots get the publicity they want.
