Insurance Company Using Propaganda To Push Political Agenda AND Sell Policies
I was just thumbing through my copy of the latest weekly neighborhood newspaper and came across an advertisement that got my blood boiling. It grabbed my eye because one insurance company took out two half-page ads on the same page, which basically made it a full-page ad. The headline grabbed my eye, and I started to read and saw that the campaign of blatant lies continued on into the text. For anyone interested, the insurance company is called "Life Insurance Company of the Southwest (a member of the National Life Group)." Feel free to let them know how you feel about them spreading lies to further their political agenda AND scare people into buying insurance policies. Here's the text of the ad (you can see that whoever wrote this ad is not particularly deft with the English language, in addition to being factually impaired):

"Do you have a contingency plan to offset tax increase in 2011?

With the tax deductions we currently have in place that are about to expire on January 1, 2011 what can you do to replace those losses?

Every American taxpayer will see significant increases in the federal taxes they will pay in 2011."

Then it goes on to say blah blah blah buy a life insurance policy and retirement plan from us.

I'm getting so completely SICK of being beaten over the head with blatant, outrageous LIES. And the more people see and read this stuff, and from more and more sources, the more they're going to believe it. A shocking percentage of Americans ALREADY believe their taxes have ALREADY gone up, and are going to skyrocket in the near future.

And there sits the "Liberal Media" silently in the corner, doing nothing to counterattack the propaganda with facts.

You want to know how bad it's gotten out there? TONIGHT (as in, just a few hours ago), I had to shoot down a RWer on Facebook. Why? Because he posted a YouTube video of Lou Dobbs discussing a "horrendous, offensive, outrageous" bill Democrats were "trying to pass through the House" (a bill that Boner was fighting tooth and nail to stop, and which he called a "piece of shit bill"--that phrase is the key, because it allows you to Google it and find out EXACTLY what the bill is and what EXACTLY is in it before passing judgment). And this poster was urging everyone to pass the video along to let everyone know just how bad for the country these immigrant-loving Democrats were (and by extension, how GOOD the Boner is for fighting silly things like this bill contains--and make no mistake, Lou Dobbs really made it sound like the worst bill ever envisioned by man). Here's the problem. The video was from 2007, and Lou Dobbs was talking about the Kennedy-McCain immigration bill (also known as the BUSH AMNESTY PLAN). It was BUSH'S OWN PLAN. But how many people who watched, and subsequently passed on, that video did ANY research at all to verify it? So guess how many people will be at the water cooler at work tomorrow talking about the horrifying immigration bill the dirty Democrats are trying to foist upon good, upstanding, REAL Americans like us. I'm so sick of this shit. I'm sick and tired of having to be the only informed, intelligent person in a room full of panicky, paranoid children.
