Republican Christians ignore teachings of Jesus Christ and favor a vengeful God. |
|
Maybe they should call themselves Godtians, because they are not followers of Jesus.
Jesus, The prince of peace.
God, Vengeance is mine.
Did Glen Beck even mention Jesus at his rally? Just wondering.
I am a believer without a building.
Oh, and Pastor Jones, go fuck yourself.......

2. Does Beck know that the "Book of Acts" actually endorses socialism for Christians? |
|
Acts of the Apostles at chapter 2 and verses 44 and 45:
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things in common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. (King James Version)
The theme is reiterated in Acts 4:32-37:
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. 34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, 37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet. (King James Version)

4. It's About "Superiority"... |
|
Religion is a mask for the image this country has developed over the decades of being "exceptional"...a "superpower" and with it all its culture is superior to all others. Those that sound or look funny are somehow inferior...benign savages at best, scary, evil "terrorists" at the worst. It's been a game used to "unite" many...the latest boogie man used by those who crave power and prey on fear and hate as their base. A century ago it was Irish and/or Catholics and then Blacks...in the last century it was the evil Russians and Nazis and now its Hispanics and "A-rabs".
What we're seeing is the ugly death throes of the white christian "majority" as this nation and the rest of the world passes it by.

7. What is it with the resurgent popularity of the No True Scotsman fallacy? |
|
If someone claims to be a Christian, they are. Unless you follow EVERYTHING in the bible 100%, you pick & choose which parts you want to believe just like all Christians do.

13. Because the True Scotmen can't wrap their heads around the fundamental flaws of their creed. |
|
Christianity isn't a very nice religion, and Terry Jones, arguably, is on message.
That possibility makes too many heads explode. Thus, the god-splitting.

9. They seem to rely heavily on parts of the "old testament", but only the parts they like - |

Edited on Thu Sep-09-10 07:16 AM by old mark
they do not observe the Jewish dietary laws or other rituals, but they like the laws about killing people for blasphemy, etc...But again, their interpretation is just self serving and - face it, stupid. There is several thousand years of Jewish theoligical interpretation of their religious law written down and available for anyone who wants to read it, but they just flip though the bible pages and take whatever strikes their eye and think everyone else is wrong.
This is insanity.

12. When did Chrisitanity go polytheistic? Your 'Father' and 'Son' are one in the same 'god', right? |
|
So, this parsing of 'good god, bad god' misses the point.
Terry Jones got the right message. And it's a bad one, no matter how much hair, or god-splitting you do.
