I don't want to break my mouse |
|
by clicking "Hide Thread" on anything with Quran/Koran in the thread title.
Ugh...I'm so fucking sick and tired of piss-ant attention whores turning every 9/11 into some "Hey! Look at me!" jingoistic, fund-raising, political/religious exploitation of the attacks.
And the media is even worse by giving anything more than a mocking glance at these fuckers.

6. This thread doesn't have Quran/Koran in the title. |
|
Also, this thread is about other threads, not about burning the Koran.

But I'm not the one going around complaining about these threads while simultaneously starting my own.

11. As long as people believe in the Jesus and Allah characters |
|
and keep pitting their god against one another, then this bullshit will not end.
The quickest way I can think of to get us out of this rut would be to require that all schools must include quite a bit of science in the school curriculum. Over a generation or so we could maybe overwhelm the god-junkies with more open-minded kids who can better think for themselves instead of being brainwashed into the god stuff like I was when I was a kid.
I had to wait until college to finally get my mind right about the origins of life. That should not happen. I would much rather have had very early exposure to science training.

18. I don't care what a person ascribes to theologically or scientifically, |
|
both have been twisted to suit political power and have been abused. You don't need to believe in a higher power to commit evil and unethical acts.

20. But the problem is they USE their belief in their particular higher power |
|
and commit these unethical acts as in good standing with their SUPERIOR CREATOR, which makes the violence okay for them, because it has their god's seal of approval.
And they shouldn't be able to use the god scapegoat stuff. Politics is reality, the god stuff is imaginary, using the latter to promote the former sux and needs to stop.

24. We have seen scientists abuse ethical and moral precepts |
|
using science as a shield too. Neither camp is without fault and pure in the justification of application of their beliefs/conclusions to the real world.

16. We need a new forum: Flash Flood of Frivolity forum. |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-09-10 03:17 PM by Boojatta
Rules for Starting Threads in the FFoF forum: Please do not "dilute" the forum by posting actual news. This forum is for opinions about news, and not for actual news.
Please be aware of the following restrictions when posting in Flash Flood of Frivolity Forum:
1. Do not post news.
2. Do not post about a topic unless there are already at least two other threads on DU about that topic. Please note that we are very strict about this. Multiple discussion threads about the same topic are the reason that this forum exists. Please don't misuse the forum by posting unique items.
3. Do not post serious or on-topic news stories. The moderators of the Flash Flood of Frivolity forum have the authority to act as editors, and may remove threads that they do not consider sufficiently frivolous.
Be aware that we delete, lock, or move discussion threads from the Flash Flood of Frivolity forum that do not fulfill these requirements. We will not send you a message explaining where your post went. Thank you for your understanding.

children I bore while married to a Muslim man, I thoroughly disagree with you. I fear for my children, particularly my son, who looks like his father and has a last name that would identify him as possibly Muslim, even though he does not practice any religion of any stripe. This bigoted hatemongering cannot be allowed to be swept under the rug but must be denounced. It is no different than the dogwhistling done over immigrants from Mexico nor is it any different than the hatemongering and persecution of Jews and other groups during the Third Reich. How soon we forgot the lessons of that great war. Has it ever occurred to someone that perhaps these evangelicals are hoping for a greater conflagration, perhaps trying to usher in Armageddon now that efforts are now being made to resolve conflicts and neocons are out of power? These people are dangerous and any movement toward institutionalizing this sort of hatred must be denounce and extinguished. Who the hell do you suppose teaches these Teabaggers their twisted theology? It is people like this Jones character.

19. I have thought the same thing myself. They want another 9/11 on Obama's watch |
|
So they can say, "See, he couldn't keep us safe".
By the way, I am witnessing this through a similar lens. I am an expat living in Indonesia, married to an Indonesian who is newly pregnant with our first child.
