FBI Paid Pastor a Visit...
FBI agents met with the Rev. Terry Jones at his Dove Outreach Center, an independent church in Gainesville with about 50 members. At issue are his plans to stage an "International Burn-a-Koran Day" on the ninth anniversary of the terror attacks.

Jones planned a public response to the president's request and the FBI visit later Thursday, said church spokesman Wayne Sapp.

Obama, speaking both to an audience of millions and to Jones in particular, said on ABC's "Good Morning America" that: "I hope he listens to those better angels and understands that this is a destructive act that he's engaging in."

1. This may be the reason.
Pastor Terry Jones said Thursday that he decided to cancel his protest because the leader of a planned Islamic Center near ground zero has agreed to move its controversial location. The agreement couldn't be immediately confirmed.

If true it means that Jones won. :(

2. I doubt very much that the Imam agreed to that.
Since Jones is a cowardly little weasel, he most likely lied to cover his ass.

3. I doubt that that is true, just Jones weaseling out. Anyway, I hope to god (and I mean that) that
it's untrue for the same reason you do.

8. That would be disturbing if it were true
Book burners are scumbags in my book but I sure as hell don't want the FBI "visiting" someone for doing something that's not illegal.

9. Of course, you do recognize the ramifications if Jones carried out his plans.
Of course you do.

Just because Unhinged Loon A does something Unhinged Loon B doesn't like, it doesn't give "B" a right to use violence in response.

16. I'm thinking that they may have suggested that under the National Security law that it could happen.
If someone may be a national security risk to the country?

15. I doubt very much that you will ever get the truth from that ass clown.
Every single thing that has happened so far, he has twisted it to mean whatever the hell he wants it to mean. He has been on tv locally for the past two hours (is on right now) and is lying about the Iman in NYC as I write this. He is saying "it's a sign from God."

He's nothing but a fucking liar.

So the pastor backs down because of an understanding or possible misunderstanding that the Mosque is being moved. The Imam says it's not being moved, but he will do everything in his power to make it be moved? The FBI paid the pastor a visit (maybe some arm bending htere...but who knows?)

BUT THEN THE MEDIA REPORTS THIS

...A Florida imam says no deal has been reached to move the site of a mosque near ground zero in exchange for a Florida minister to call off plans to burn Qurans.
<snip>
Musri is president of the Islamic Society of Central Florida. He says he told Jones that he does not believe the mosque should not be there and would do everything in his power to make sure it is moved.

Translation for the 2nd paragraph please?

22. I can't tell from the coverage exactly who is saying the FBI met with Jones or what was discussed

Is the FBI saying they met with Jones? Is Jones saying he met with the FBI?

Did the FBI supposedly visit Jones on their own initiative to discuss security matters with him, or did Jones invite them to visit to discuss security, or what?
