"If Obama is president, maybe you need to spend more time developing a gun lock, a trigger lock"
Crazy talk? This is a United States Congressman! Denny Rehberg, R-Montana.

Congressional chat: Denny Rehberg visits local tool and machine shop

STEVENSVILLE - In a Wednesday morning visit to a Bitterroot Valley machine parts manufacturer, Montana's lone congressman did a lot of listening - to a story of success in hard times and worries over the economy, health care reform and food policy.

But as a politician who bills himself as a straight shooter, Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg also had a bit of off-color advice for Bonnie and Randy Jones, proprietors of Bitterroot Tool and Machine, makers of airplane bolts, grain mills and bullet-loaders.

"If Obama is president, maybe you need to spend more time developing a gun lock, a trigger lock," Rehberg said with a chuckle, sitting across a lunchroom table from the Joneses in a suede jacket emblazoned with the U.S. government seal.

The comment came in response to Randy Jones asking about gun rights.

----

I truly believe we are in a very scary place.

1. I don't think he's saying what you seem to think he's saying
Gun and trigger locks are things our party is famous/infamous for trying to mandate. I think the "joke" is that with Obama in the White House you can probably expect another attempt at a trigger lock requirement, so that trigger locks would be a profitable thing to develop.

2. Not sure why that comment is that scary
CA and other places require trigger locks to be delivered with each weapon sold...I am clearly missing your context

3. Rehberg is an ugly ugly person
You unfortunately get used to that crap around here, it can be an ugly place when it puts its mind to it.
