DADT: We fail when we depend on one judge (or 5) to defend our liberties |

Because the opposition see the weakness and proceed to stack the judiciary with like minded jurists. We need a political solution by a majority in Congress and one aggressively defended by a President. A majority in America support allowing gays to serve openly for their country. It's only cowards in our political system that undermine a political solution and seek "compromise".

...and in this case it worked as designed.
Sometimes we do depend on one or a few judges to defend our liberties. In fact some of our most important steps forward depended on exactly that. So I don't think it means we've failed.
I just hope this decision puts an end to discrimination against gays in the military.
