Bulletin: Frank Luntz is "bothered tremendously that we've become such an angry country"
Can you believe it? The GOP's vocabulary-meister is bothered by polarized America.

He just said it on Tavis Smiley's show.

Unfuckingbelievable!

4. We should be angrier, and mostly at people like Luntz!
We have such a bullshit-driven discourse, and he's one of the people who helped us convert from just "bs as grease" to "bs as fuel", in terms of how the machinery of our politics runs. He should be bothered--if people are angry enough to figure out just what they've stepped in, they might get commensurately pissed-off at the critter that laid it.

13. Forget angry - hit back at their lockstep propaganda machine with the truth
They are driven by their right wing corporation funded super millionaires who don't want to support this nation at all but do want to line their own pockets at our expense, the loss of our homes, our wages, our health care and our children's educations - - all while they control most of mainstream media, scapegoating minorities

8. Ironic coming from a Machiavellian figure such as himself.
Here is a guy who made a career from identifying fear and hatred in the electorate and then boiling it down to simple language to be used cynically for political gain. I guess he's shocked that gambling is going on in Casablanca.

11. I feel so distraught that we have let him down that I may cry.
We have failed him, horribly, when all he ever tried to do was teach us to love one another. We don't deserve him. Great souls like his are born amongst us to improve us, to show us how to transcend our base nature, but we don't deserve him. I know I don't.

16. You know, I half-believe him
I knew people like him in the GOP way back when. Someone self-identified as the erudite elite, someone disdainful of the very people he'd exploit in the course of "run(ing) over my grandmother for an office", to quote someone from my distant past, someone who, for all his political smarts, was oblivious to where that would very well lead some day.

I weep for you, Frank Luntz. Well, at least I have a watery discharge for you coming out of one of my orifices.

18. That's propaganda completely in line with his goals, actually.
Wingers need everybody else to be reasonable, so that their shoutycrackers appearances on TV can be "understood" as the "honest" reactions of usually reasonable people to the "outrageousness" of the left. It's the framing that allows them to continue their bluster and illogic, and at the same time never to be blamed for being overbearing and unreasonable. They can't help it, you see, the left is just so out there that they are forced outside their normally-reasonable demeanor.

The meta-message is that Republican behavior is always normal and natural. Once you start to look for how they take that stance, you see it all the time. If we can figure a way to cut through that reliably and convincingly, that's the end of them. I don't think I'm exaggerating.

I have to give Vice President Joe some credit. Biden's comment about Giuliani, that all his sentences were "A noun, a verb, and 9/11" was a perfect example of revealing the pattern so clearly that it loses all its punch.

So, how do we clearly show people what the Repubs are doing, and at the same time reveal them as abnormal and unnatural?

37. Well said. I think you have it right that Biden nailed it, simply enough for most to get.
So we keep doing that. Collapse their babble into its root message, which is usually something like 'fear something' and 'we will protect you from it'. Repeat as necessary (don't worry about being too simplistic and repetitive, their brainwashed victims require the constant reinforcement).

27. All the hate and anger comes from the top
The leaders promote all the hate and anger.
The political leaders, the leaders of the press, the leaders of churches, the leaders of corporations.

If the people at the top stopped talking about attacking people, called out to stop the hate,
then the level of anger would fall greatly. But they will not because it serves their purpose to have the
masses at the bottom angry at the other side.

31. Mr. Luntz...
Well, what can I say, Mr. Luntz? I do agree with you and am too bothered by the fact that we've gotten so angry.

But Mr. Luntz, you've helped make it that way. You see, your hand-wringing might have been helpful had you, say, not helped to created the vernacular of piss and vinegar now used by GOP pundits, GOP politicians, Teabaggers, and every other wrongheaded moron in this country, just to serve an interest of getting the next GOP douchebag elected. I can't help thinking that the angriest people in this country wouldn't have the words or the drive to express them had people like yourself not placed these toxic, inhumane, and ultimately stupid ideas and the words to express those ideas before them. The people you've targeted for the campaign of harsh words are people who are bereft of ideas unless they are spoon fed them by the likes of you. And now you've made us angry. Yes, the collateral damage in your war against good goddamn common sense in the name of keeping your pathetic party in power is those you would oppose. By forcing us to have to fight these clueless malcontents you've created, you have turned politics from a irksome (though occasionally useful) exercise into a pointless, futile, frothing-at-the-mouth shoutfest.

Fuck you and your fretting.
Fuck you and your hand-wringing.
Fuck you and your concern.

It's yours. OWN IT.

41. Everything Luntz says is deliberate framing....
that is how he earns his paycheck. By using the word "angry", Mr. Luntz is bringing back the 'angry black man' crap, in essence, saying the country wouldn't be angry if there wasn't an 'angry black man' in the White House, imo.

Luntz is pure filth.
