not necessarily - it's in the genes
my mother's side of the family (from her mother's side), are very "wrinkle-free". My aunt was nearly seventy and had the complexion of a woman in her 30's. My mom was in her seventies and had hardly any wrinkles (although she'd had acne when she was younger so her complexion wasn't as "clear").

Also, many African American women are also "wrinkle free".

9. True...my mom didn't start to look her age till she was past 60, and...
I myself am 57 but people have told me my skin looks like it's 35 years old.

I quit smoking, don't drink, and...most importantly...have never been a sun worshipper.

No real skin regimen, either...soap and water twice a day, Noxzema to moisturize.

That's it.

I laugh when I see women spending hundreds of dollars on skin products they think will stop the aging process.

Sat in the sun about 15 minutes a day and had wine every night. She died at age 100 and her skin looked amazingly young.

20. never ever ever go to bed with makeup on -
that was my Mother's mantra. I can count on one - okay two - hands the number of times I've broken that rule in my life. I have had some women (10-15 yrs my jr) comment on "how jealous" they are of my lack of wrinkles.

I used to "tan" all the time when I was younger - and rarely used sunscreen of any strength. And I do indulge in a wee bit o' the grape.

I'm over 50 and I don't "have wrinkles" - and I can assure you that I have NEVER had "work done" - neither did my mom or her sister, or my sister who is over 60.

You have no idea what you're talking about here. None at all. I'm sorry you evidently don't know any women with "good genes", or maybe you just assume that all women are lying and vain.

Priscilla was among several other women of Hollywood’s elite, including Larry King’s wife, Shawn King and Diane Richie, Lionel’s then-wife, to fall victim to plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel Serrano and his better than Botox injections. Not only is Serrano not licensed to practice in the United States and he was actually injecting the women with low-grade silicon, similar to what is used to lubricate auto parts. Dr. Serrano was convicted of drug smuggling and the conspiracy and use of unapproved drugs. He now faces possible deportation to his native Argentina.

The women treated by Serrano now have bumpy, paralyzed and pitted appearances. But hopefully, corrective surgery will help restore Priscilla to her former glory.

I think it is a matter of staying out of the sun, taking good care of your skin, and genes.

It is known in Texas that Laura is a smoker, so I would seriously doubt that her skin is wrinkle free. I have no idea what this has to do with politics, but yes I would bet that she has had some work done ...

49. better get your eyes checked
Edited on Sun Sep-12-10 02:54 AM by pitohui
sorry one of the most of the reliable indicators for age is wrinkles around the eyes

once they're age 27 they got em

when i was doing undercover and passing for younger this was one of the most valuable things i learned

some things age at a different rate, you can go bald at 16 or bald at 90, some things age at the same rate, almost everyone has reached her full height by age 20, and EVERYONE starts to get crows feet at 27, EVERYONE starts to lose near vision at age46 -- you have wrinkles you are just the last person to know it in your circle find out before you make yourself a figure of fun

you either do not have flawless skin, you are fibbing just a little, or you seriously need to have your near vision checked (starts going out at age 46 for a lot of people)

everyone else knows you need botox, you're the only one who doesn't know

no offense but fibs that give 102% of all women (all normal women and all other women) a reason to hate themselves cannot be allowed to stand

staying out of the sun and giving up your one and only life will not re set your genetic clock, you will still get wrinkles (laugh lines) at the eyes starting at age 27

besides the fact that when i studied it (as a matter of survival doing undercover) and you get wrinkles at the eyes starting at age 27 sun or no sun...if you want to live your whole life in a closet then why live at all?

a life lived indoors is not worth the living

if you are 60 and THINK you have no wrinkles you just need your eyeglasses checked, you gave up your life for nothing

i have v. wide acquaintance and some experience w. disguise and NO there is NO 60 yr old telling truth who does not have wrinkles

if you had no wrinkles you understand you could go to a high school and pass as a 16 yr old...that is NOT possible...you have wrinkles you also have a denial issue

"never been kissed" was not about a 60 yr old starting over, but if you have no wrinkles, you do it, show us how, and get rich and famous...

hmmm i'm already hearing crickets in advance

44. um where have you been? we cured that we have the technology
wrinkles on a woman's face (or a man's face for that matter) are now a class marker

i'm surprised you don't know that

if you want to know the age of a rich woman look at the neck or the hands but a 63 yr old woman who has money it would be stupid and political statement of some kind (a la "fuck you" barbara bush "i don't care what anyone thinks) to have wrinkles

to NOT have wrinkles if you're rich is at 63 just being polite because everyone knows you have the money to have them removed so to HAVE wrinkles is being rude (again, barbara "fuck you" bush would be the example here)

remember laura is not really a bush SHE'S A WIFE

53. Why should her appearance be an issue worth commenting on?
It's usually the celeb gossip blogs that are concerned with such things. And we criticize treatment of female politicians that is sexist.

Not that I'm so self-righteous and above it all, myself. I confess--I do indulge in gossip and all sorts of other terrible things. But I find myself increasingly concerned about discussions that focus on someone's physical appearance--whether it's freepers' nasty comments about Michelle Obama or coments from the Left about the 'Leatherface' Governor of Arizona.

Laura Bush happens to be attractive, especially for a person her age. We should all be so lucky.

55. It's not luck, it's money. And money is why it's not just idle gossip to comment on
rich women's appearance.

Especially if they want to pretend it's due to clean living and their superior genes.

57. I have graver concerns about the wealthy
And cosmetic enhancements are not only available to the rich--even middle class families are giving their daughters breast enlargements for graduation presents.

I guess I've just become more sensitive to the treatment of the APPEARANCE of women celebrities, which often appears to be sexist. It seems to me that we rarely treat men the same way.

What the wealthy--or anyone--does to stroke their vanity is the least of my concerns. There are much more important class issues--such as the ones you often post--to be concerned about.

:hi:

66. so far as plastic surgery goes, we do talk about male celebs that way.
and since their careers are partly founded on their appearances, i don't have a big problem with it.

yes, i have graver concerns about the rich as well. but their ability to pretend they look better because of superior lifestyle or genes is part & parcel with all their claims of special merit. it's all about the money.
