The Terrorists Have Won Up to This Point
As I travel and look around this country I see a country afraid of its own shadow. We blow up stuffed toys outside an elementary school, x-rays to board a plan, afraid of different religions, not trusting others who look different from ourselves. The terrorists have won.

I do not fear the terrorists, I fear the people in this country more. The people that are afraid have no problem chipping away at the freedoms and rights of this country, things that once made this country great. Instead we as a country go around the world attacking everything and everyone that voices an opinion that differs from our own.

We have become a country of fear, anger, hate, and then murder. Two wars that did not have to be, more wars on the horizon. We use terror to justify our thirst for resources and do not care who gets in our way. By using terror as an excuse all we do is promote more terrorists and then we can have more fear, and then we can attack more and more. A viscous circle. Until this circle stops we will live in a terror filled world and we can sit back and watch the destruction of this world we call earth and home.

5. One attack does not win a war
We let them win with our response to that attack.

3. Agreed, listening to Obama's press conference yesterday
I was touched by his words on the subject. He may not be doing as much as we'd like on the economy, but I think that could be turned around if he focused more on ending the wars. That would ease the pressure on finances and allow the healing to begin. He is a wonderful speaker, and that is something that could be used for good if he would let it.

It may not happen, there are some very wealthy folks in this country who love to profit off war, but I think he has the ability to make a real difference if he would take it.

4. They've won because Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld made sure they did. If this had been
handled without all the terra! bs, not to mention a fucking war, and we did what we had to do without all the fanfare (like maybe sending covert operatives out), and quietly increased the security without us having to take off our shoes and now, virtually, all our clothes, in an airport, this would be a much saner country. And I think safer.

Yes, the terrorists have won, but so did Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld in making us more malleable so they could achieve their evil goals.

My brother once asked me if I thought we were behind the Twin Towers, and I said no, but I thought Cheney and Rumsfeld were probably jumping up and down with glee because this "opportunity" had been handed to them. And boy, did they seize it.

6. An excellent post on this day.
I had to turn the TV off. Someone on DU said they felt 9-11 is overtaking July 4th as our national holiday/identity. What a commentary, huh? We've gone from the Declaration of Independence to the day that spawned the Patriot Act.

This should be required reading for every American on this day, because this is why they hate us:

A Brief History of U.S. Interventions:
1945 to the Present
by William Blum

k&r

ps - Many years before 2001 I worked for a company that was key in the public safety industry. The company did work for the major telcos providing 9-11 service. On 9-11 the company would distribute printed paraphernalia that read, "I'm nine-one-wonderful!" Bet they don't do that anymore.

10. K & R!
There are many powerful interests who have their money in this game. For those interests to perpetuate this fraud is to ensure their own survival.

11. We are the terrorists
So is it any wonder that we spawn terror worldwide, and teach other countries how to do it more effectively?

The logical fallacy here is that we were ever something else.
