Air Marshals' and Security Screeners' IDs Compromised: 100,000 TSA Employee Records Stolen
The FBI and Secret Service have been called in to investigate how an external hard drive containing Social Security numbers, addresses, bank account/direct deposit, and other personally identifiable information for TSA employees was stolen...

(See also the related story - cited in some of the articles - about farmers' farm loan information being posted publicly.)

Just hope the Department of Education doesn't have your student loan data stored on an external hard drive somewhere...

4. No Kidding!
That would be like a loan officer at your local bank storing mortgage application data on an external hard drive.

7. Because that's what was SUPPOSED to happen....can't rally the populace for National ID
without some good old fashioned fear!

Can't get fear without stolen hard drives.

Can't get stolen hard drives unless they are external.

6. Every day, another scandal
Not much on TV, but Paris Hilton gets a reduced sentence. I guess that is more important.

10. don't kid yourself....
With TIA running, your 5120 bit key will fail to a simple brute force attack in way less time than you might expect.
